A continuation of my "Road Trip! Part 3" thread...
San Francisco.
Why would you put clinker brick on a wooden Victorian? Was this done during the Craftsman period, maybe, to "update" it?

A Senegalese restaurant. We had gotten there a bit early; it wasn't open yet for dinner, so we had to hang out somewhere else, kill time, and come back...

We ordered mules---but for some reason they were served in mason jar glasses with handles. So hokey.

Little Baobab, the Senegalese restaurant, was open, so we went in.

We got tamarind cocktails. Pretty good. The taste of tamarind reminds me of my childhood.

Plantains.

The lighting inside the restaurant wasn't conducive to taking food pictures... but this dish was very tasty. I'm a fan of Senegalese food now; this was our first time having Senegalese food.

Being that we didn't have breakfast, we decided to get a snack at this nice little place called The Interval.

I ordered a kombucha and a tin of sardines in olive oil. Mmm, mmm!

My partner ordered tea and beef jerky. It was good too---we shared each other's food.

I swear, I used to say this some years ago. Now it's on a greeting card.

Lunchtime, at Greens Restaurant. Our first time eating here. I made reservations a month prior. It's a landmark vegetarian restaurant, founded by the San Francisco Zen Center back in 1979. It's been credited as having "brought vegetarian food out from sprout-infested health food stores and established it as a cuisine in America.” The restaurant utilizes fresh produce from the organic Green Gulch Farm Zen Center.

We always make it a point to go to City Lights Bookstore whenever we're in SF. We often will end up buying a book or two or three.

Then after checking out, it was a drive across the Bay into
Berkeley. They're building a rather ugly-looking building on the corner there.

That Berkeley institution called Moe's Books. Revolution Books, the ultra-leftist/Communist bookstore, was closed this day. It was the Presidents Day Holiday after all. Workers unite!

We had Japanese curry for lunch. It was pretty tasty. And then afterwards, a long drive home. What a fun 4-day weekend!
