Minneapolis doesn't really get name checked in many songs. But really, this is just in keeping with the natural reserve of folks from the Upper Midwest. However, there are several possible songs I can think would be considered for the "Official" song: Here's a few:

Skyway by The Replacements
https://youtu.be/POXkAyipekI

Husker Du doing the Theme from the Mary Tyler Moore Show:https://youtu.be/Ks0to2QuJtM

I also really like Atmosphere's "Say Shhh"

Probably the best locally-oriented song by Prince would be "Uptown"

For NYC I like Ryan Adams' "New York, New York." Nostalgic early 2000's NYC. Reminds me of the post 9-11 city, peak hipster Williamsburg and the like.

Also like "NYC Cops" by the Strokes, "NY State of Mind" by Nas and "Autumn in NY" by Billie Holliday.

Could be (although Thicke was famous for writing and singing TV theme songs, like "Diff'rent Strokes").

Probably the moment when I felt most embarrassed to be a Canadian:

I feel like I've heard Minneapolis name checked in some Doomtree or Dessa songs...

I'm guessing many Torontonians old enough to remember this would rather forget it. It's pretty schmaltzy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpJXAavGpi4

Way off topic (kind of) but I loved the movie San Francisco growing up. It was something I'd always watch with my dad or mom when it came on TV (mostly because I've always been fascinated by earthquakes). The special effects in that movie are amazing for 1936.

But back on topic:

Salt Lake has no official song. Most songs about Salt Lake are done to mock the city.

The Beach Boys wrote a song about Salt Lake in the 1960s due to their constant playing at Lagoon and it's probably the most well-known songs that shows the city in a positive light.

Of course, then there's The Dwarves' song about Salt Lake City:

I'll post that one for Québec's bros, cause it's officially often so damn cold out there.

5 am. Paris is waking up.

I guess that's the most standard tune dedicated to the city.

Très belle toune. Ils avaient fière allure, lui et sa belle Françoise... Belle époque.

L.a.

"I Love L.A." by Randy Newman plus most Beach Boys songs. "Hooray for Hollywood" for Hollywood.

Can't think of a San Diego song. Should be one. Nice city.

St. Louis--"Meet Me in St. Louis" sung by Judy G.

Nice of you to think of us but this song has nothing to do with us or any of our cities!

Randy Newman’s “I Love LA” is the city’s de facto official song, as Newmam himself is from here.

Others worth mentioning:

“LA Is My Lady” by Frank Sinatra

“This Is LA” by The Briggs (popularized by the LA Kings)

For something more angsty, “Los Angeles” by Sugarcult from their album Palm Trees and Power Lines. Sugarcult was a staple of my adolescence and many mainstream suburban Millennials of similar age.

Also for LA, "City of Angels" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Los Angeles Is Burning" by Bad Religion.
