Lancaster, VA

Lancaster is an unincorporated community on the Northern Neck of Virginia. It is the seat of Lancaster County. The population is around 500.


The Lancaster County Courthouse, on Courthouse Road. The courthouse was built in 2010.



The old Lancaster County Courthouse, on Mary Ball Road. The courthouse was built in 1861.



A Confederate monument, on Mary Ball Road.



The monument was dedicated in 1872, and is the oldest Confederate monument in Virginia that is not located in a cemetery.



The old Clerk's Office, on Mary Ball Road. The office was built in 1797.



The Lancaster House, on Mary Ball Road. The house was built in 1798, and is now the Mary Ball Washington Museum. The museum is named for Mary Ball, who married Augustine Washington and was the mother of President George Washington.



The old jail, off of Mary Ball Road. The jail was built in 1870.



Offices on Mary Ball Road. On the left is the Steuart Blakemore Building, built in 1900.



Trinity Episcopal Church, on Mary Ball Road. The church was built in 1884.
