The pandemic and other issues will certainly incentivize more warehousing and manufacturing in the area. Domestic sources of production will be more a necessity than ever before. Was a good podcast with biz new orleans and the port of nola president about this very thing and how they are starting to see a lot of interest for that all over south east louisiana. I think green tech is absolutely low hanging fruit to go after as well.

Any idea what they would be needing pile drivers at the Superdome for?

They are about to start work on this Mcdonalds replacement on St Charles.
Think will be a nice upgrade for that area too.

Donald Link to open new restaurant at Four Seasons hotel on New Orleans riverfront

https://www.nola.com/entertainment_l...506a08fb4.html

A new restaurant taking shape within the Four Seasons hotel is designed around sweeping views of the Mississippi River and the cuisine of one of the city’s most accomplished restaurateurs: Donald Link.

The hotel, slated to open this spring at the foot of Canal Street, will be home to the next restaurant from the chef and his Link Restaurant Group.

This new restaurant has yet to be named, and details of the concept remain in development. Link said it will be a fine dining restaurant, a notch more upscale than his bistro Herbsaint, with a contemporary approach. It will be a large restaurant, with about 150 seats and 30 more at the bar. Link's crew will also field menus for the separate pool and cabana terrace adjacent to the main restaurant.

Four Seasons Renovation

Does anyone know if we're expecting to see the Four Seasons painted the color depicted in the renderings?

What’s old is like new again! We are delighted to announce that 623 Canal Street has crossed the finish line by receiving its certificate of occupancy.

This project involved the renovation of not one but two historic buildings that were full of surprises. Thanks to the tireless effort of the project team, the 26,780 SF property now features commercial space on the ground floor and residential units on the upper floors, and contributes to efforts to bring historic Canal Street properties back into commerce.

Historic "before" photo of the building in the 1950’s when it was home to Leonard Krower & Son Wholesale Jewelry.

A $250M casino-resort in Slidell is on the table, but will it happen? See plans

https://www.nola.com/news/northshore...ad2cca749.html

The Los Angeles-based company that bought a financially-troubled Bossier City riverboat casino six years ago in hopes of moving to a more profitable location has found what it's looking for in St. Tammany Parish.

Casino operator Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, known as P2E, said Monday it has started discussions with local officials on a proposal to build a $250 million casino and resort on a waterfront site near Slidell.

The proposed development, which includes a 250-room hotel, would cover about 50 acres of a 100-acre plot of open land east of the Blind Tiger restaurant.

Nice. That's ~50 miles from the Gulfport/Biloxi casinos. If done right, it will attract a lot of people traveling east along I-10. The people from Alabama and the Florida panhandle may give it a try too... what's another hour to try out a band new casino and the cajun cooking

Developers of a $100 million “live, work, play” project at Clearview Mall in Metairie said Thursday that an upscale apartment community will join it.

The five-story, $55 million complex dubbed “The Metro at Clearview” will have 270 units that average 925 square feet in space and cost between $1,500 and $3,000 per month, a news release said. The developer is Audubon, an Atlanta-based company that owns and operates multifamily properties including the American Can apartments in Mid-City and several other properties in Metairie, Westwego, Baton Rouge and Bridge City.

I think they will do okay. The NOLA suburbs lack some decent modern apartments. They might be the uninspiring box design but virtually every city with decent sized growth is swarming with those types of developments.

Its a decent location with good access to the area and the region. The other key for me is getting good tenants at the Clearview renovation. Would like to think they'll be able to attract some restaurants/brands without a presence in the metro. I'd like to see a whataburger or a zaxbys in there, but I think they'll try and get higher calibre names given the rent rates we are seeing for the apartments.
