Lightbulb HOUSTON | SkyHouse River Oaks | 284 FT / 87 M | 25 FLOORS

Developer: Novare Group
Architect: Small Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates
Type: Residential
Location: 2013 Westcreek Ln, near River Oaks District
Construction Start: 1Q 2014

This will be the fourth SkyHouse in Texas, and the second for Houston. Right now it's unclear which 'top' this one will have.

ATLANTA’S NOVARE Group is getting ready to announce construction of its second SkyHouse apartment tower in Houston. According to the company, it’ll be “just like” the 24-story building (and adjacent parking garage) currently under construction on Main St. between Pease and Leeland downtown (shown in the rendering above, which in turn looks very similar to the company’s SkyHouse developments in other cities). Novare appears to have designated the building the River Oaks SkyHouse. Though it’ll be a bit south and west and on the other side of the tracks from the actual River Oaks, the new building will sit closer to its namesake than the River Oaks District mixed-use project currently under construction directly south of it.

Novare hasn’t officially reported the tower’s location, but the address listed for the project among data providers is 2013 Westcreek Ln., which likely puts it on the site of the 2 Westcreek Apartment buildings sold last year. 2021 and 2041 Westcreek, immediately to the west of the Target parking lot (and labeled Bldgs. B and D in the map at right), are at the northeast corner of Westcreek and San Felipe. They were vacated last November, in advance of an unannounced redevelopment project.

Ground has broken on Houston’s second SkyHouse luxury apartment tower, representatives said Monday.

The 25-story, 352-unit SkyHouse River Oaks will be located in Cypress Real Estate Advisors’ new master-planned redevelopment of the Westcreek at River Oaks community. Residents of the existing Westcreek at River Oaks, located next to Target on San Felipe Street near the 610 Loop, were told in November the existing community would be torn down for a new development.

The project is expected to deliver in the first quarter of 2015. Batson-Cook Construction is the general contractor, and Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates Inc. is the architect. Both are based in Atlanta.

That top floor pool should make for some nice panoramic sunbathing.

Curious if Fort Worth, San Antonio or perhaps another Texas city could reel one of these in to. They are mass produced skyscrapers but still quite interesting.

If they're already drilling holes, the site should have a crane on it within the next 30 days.

I'm not as much a fan of the crown on this one as I am of the one in downtown. After seeing Austin's, it just has a certain "we couldn't think of anything else to put there so we put an arch and called it a day" feel to it.

You're nobody if you don't have at least one Skyhouse.
