Bleh.

So, a really interesting 50+ story hotel/condo combo (Ritz Carlton) and a modern and sleek 37 story apartment tower have now given way to just a single 29 story apartment building built back from the main street (San Felipe) in typical suburban fashion.

SUCKS.

I don't get it, Houston is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and has almost no highrise development or demand.

It is crucial to combat urban sprawl aswell.

There already alot of highrises going up in Houston, most of them office towers in the 20- 30 st. range. Right now Houston is also having alot of low to midrise infill.

^That's good, at least there will be a lot of filler buildings to add density

I'm sure there will be demand for larger towers in the near future, I hope.

This site has really blown up over the past few months... surprised no one has posted since last summer.

Plans have been updated once more. Office space surrounding the Whole Foods has increased, so that a small, 6 story building is being constructed at the same time the store is being built. They also show a potential 33-story tower being built along Post Oak, likely for Apache Corporation. That project is likely some time off though. The original Hanover tower and at least two other highrises are also back on the development map.

The current version of the site, from BLVD Place's website.

Let's catch up on the progress at the site. This is from July 25/12 - The Pavillion shopping center is demolished and being cleared

I assume the tower crane on the right side of the site is for the Apache HQ? Or something else?

If you are referring to the white and gray tower crane, it is for the Hanover Post Oak. Hanover Post Oak rendering is at the top of the page.

Drove past the site over the weekend. Once the Apache tower go and the condo tower go up, this corner will be dense.

Yes, if you look very closely to the very far right of the pictures above you will see a white tower crane. That is the site of the new Hanover apartment tower.

I asked that same question because the tower was deleted from the list of Houston projects under construction. It's still listed as a proposal in the database.

On edit: I see the record has been corrected.

The Permits page of the Houston Business Journal just listed the issuance of permits for construction of this building (1750 Skylark Lane?), floor by floor for 29 floors plus a garage. Looks like a confirmation, though after the fact.
