Blanco (former Brava spot on 17th ave) looks either open or very close to it. Same folks as Anejo. Looks like a cool spot from what I could tell walking by.

Looked like they were training all their staff and going through the menu when I walked by and creepily stared through the glass a couple nights ago.

A second (but more central) Brown's Socialhouse coming to Calgary. To be located in Mount Royal Village (adjacent to the recently opened West Elm, below the recently opened Goodlife Fitness....well you get the idea).

I can confirm that the old Arby's on 16th Ave NW, across the street from SAIT is being converted into a Carl's Junior. This morning they were working on the exterior stucco and I noted the large star on the wall.

Whaa??! A Carl's Jr in YYC? Interesting. Never had it, only heard of it. But cool to see international expansion in Calgary.

Yes, I believe that they are shooting to open in December. That parking lot is going to be a shit show with Earl, Starbucks and now Carl's Jr. all using the space and the alley.

Mission news:

Artigiano in 20/20 on 4th has closed down. Windows are papered over and there is a sign saying "we are temporarily closed" and "new concept coming soon." I heard that the same thing occurred with their Britannia location.

Sassi, a Mediterranean restaurant, opened in the adjacent space.

Not sure when i happened, but "The Derrick" has opened in the place of El Dorado on 8th ave in or by the Baron Building. Also a sign up now for Paper or something like that at the old Belfry.

Good luck to these guys opening in this market. Gonna be tough.

Interesting. It seems that a lot of their locations have closed. They had one in Victoria that was seemingly doing quite well that also closed.

Yeah, the Brittannia location was always busy from what I'd seen...

I saw the guys from Gravity Espresso & Wine bar (Inglewood) milling around in front of the former Artigiano space this morning.

The Britannia location was always pretty busy but had very limited operating hours. The one in Mission wasn't quite as busy and the space looked quite large for the use (to my eye).

Are we sure that both locations have closed for good? I was under the impression they were redecorating or rebranding those stores...

What type of establishment is this? There's very little info about the concept on their site: http://homeandawayyyc.com/

I had drinks with their exec chef a month back (my first time meeting him). He used to be at Murietta's so his cuisine is refined. This won't be what you expect. The food is looking amazing. Check out Twitter: https://twitter.com/chefpigot and Instagramhttps://instagram.com/chefpigot/ for some sneak peeks. I am excited.
