Check the Miami Central thread. Its under proposals. All the info, diagrams, plans are there. Also links to pdf's and other sources.

Usually under "============" to separate info and sources.

Ridership should get a nice little bump from being connected to the airport.

The big delays came from the the fact that AMTRAK trains were longer than Tri-Rail trains and AMTRAK would basically block NW 25 st. to traffic on their platforms. So they had to reconfigure. Mis Communication!

yeah big delay silly they didnt know or plan ahead.
is there any news/or links that source/reference this info.
about the amtrak trains??
i predict the Tri-Rail will boost passengers 20% because of MIA airport
and its connections to central Dade & metrorail
should be good news for AAF in downtown miami.

Here you go:

"At new Miami train station, too-short platform to require costly
fixes
State engineers are blaming Amtrak for a problem that will require a costly fix at
Miami Central Station, the big new passenger-train hub under construction near
Miami International Airport.
By Andres Viglucci

Months after construction began on the new train station at Miami International Airport’s
transportation hub, state engineers realized they had a problem: The planned station platform was
too short for some of the Amtrak trains that will use it. About 200 feet too short, in fact.
That meant some trains parked at the $88 million Miami Central Station would jut
inconveniently out into the middle of Northwest 25th Street, one of just two direct connections
for motorists between Northwest South River Drive and LeJeune Road east of the airport."

In other words the city of Miami is trying to see if they can drop the cost lower. The numerous agencies have until June 30th. to find & fund a $29.5 million dollar shortfall.

GE will provide the signaling system to include upgrades to grade crossings, effective communications with approaching trains, a system for triggering gate openings and closings, and regulation of train-crossing times.
As a result, AAF trains will clear grade crossings in less than 60 seconds, AAF and GE officials said in a press release."

* This is important because Martin & St. Lucie counties are suing claiming that 32 AAF trains a day would cause traffic & boat delays at crossings in those counties. I wonder why they haven't sued FEC with their 100 car freight trains instead. Thanks for the link.

No, they didn't want to sued FEC. They can take more time. The freight trains can be move slowly, but not a fast trains. Only for AAF. AAF is a fastest trains.

Actually they are suing the Federal government and not AAF.
