Minneapolis seem like it has a really nice DT from the photos I see on this forum... but I never see photos of historic neighborhoods outside of DT. Have you got any photos showcasing these?

Good stuff. The new residential tower extends the skyline nicely.

They keep all those splaying parking lots to absorb heat from the sun during the winters to heat all the skyways.

Nice Photos!

The last one and the one below are especially nice.

Thanks for posting these.

It is unfortunate that there are still a few parking lots left in the core. The farthest one away in the photo above was rumored to become a park for a while, but in all fairness the city has filled up quite a few lots directly out of the core recently. Near the Guthrie for instance 7 full blocks have been filled with development and another large parcel about the size of 2 blocks has become a park for the emerging neighborhood.

The city was dealt a hard blow from urban renewal and razing in the 50s and 60s so it's going to take time to fill every last block.

If I recall correctly, city policy for the last 15 years or so has been to operate an empty or partially empty block as a surface parking lot until a development proposal comes through.

I think you are correct aj. The city would rather make some money off of this idle land, then just let is sit and get are weedy.

One of the most underated cities in the country. Having only been there when it was in the high 90s, it's nice to see its famed coldweather side.
