Tallest Residential Building In The World Reveals New Details—Including 100th Floor Amenity Level Overlooking New York City
Amy Dobson
Jan 24, 2020

Quote:
Developed by Extell Development Company, the tower will rise 1,550 feet in the air and can make the claim as being the tallest residential building in the world since the majority of its volume will be devoted to privately-owned condos. The Burj Khalifa building in Dubai surpasses the height of this by several hundred feet, but has much of its space devoted to office, retail and tourist destinations in addition to the residences. Central Park Tower has announced one ground level retail tenant open to the public—a flagship seven-story Nordstrom’s (a company that was also instrumental in making this project financially feasible).
Quote:
Developers have devoted the 100th floor of the building to 8,300 square feet of amenity space, said to be the highest private residents’ club in the world. The 100th floor will include a private ballroom, wine and cigar lounges, dining room, bar and full-service kitchen. Michelin-starred chefs and a not-yet-disclosed but ‘renowned’ lifestyle specialist will be part of the staff to curate events in the space. Rottet Studio, the same team behind the residential interior designs, also designed the private club level so that it could contain both large entertaining spaces and smaller, intimate meeting rooms.

So much stunning photography on this site and that one's award worthy? It's out of focus/blurry, washed out and emphasizes some nondescript NJ apartments. Nothing against the photographer, he was taking some snapshots to document HY -- I don't think he was attempting to be Ansel Adams here!

In my own defense, I was referring to the vantage point of the skyline. My aim wouldn't have been to be graded on camera work if I were the person who took it.

Yeah...As if I'm gonna go out of my way to make sure that unwanted elements of the overall picture I wanna take actually receive the dignity of inclusion into the shot.

Okay, then I would've done some editing by cropping the original on both sides so that I do get exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe he/she should've, too.

Lean back! Lean Back! CPT and Stienway leaning back, got dem hos in check, 220 CPS watching in distress, what a mess, its been 57 days since One57 lost a contract, contrary to the fact, skinny does distract backed by electrical facades, aesthetical might.

Central Park Tower looks like 111 57th's empty display case.

I think JDS won the gem of 57th Street award. The age old battle between Extell and Stern's JDS. CPT may be taller, but folks will be in awe of Stienway.

One building I kinda wish was taller is 220 CPS, which is a gem as well. Kinda overshadowed by CPT IMO. Would of been nice if that design was let's say on Park Avenue.

JDS also has 9 Dekalb. Extell may have Brooklyn Point, but 9 Dekalb will once again be what makes folks blush in awe.

Sad how these super-tall, vapid, aesthetic monstrosities are hailed, apparently, just because they are tall. How did these horrific things now irretrievably blighting Manhattan’s skyline come to be?

Quote:
One of the factors underlying the boom is foreign investment, often in the form of capital flight. Some of these buyers have poured money into high-end New York real estate for the purpose of tax avoidance, money laundering, or to export wealth to locales where it is less easily seized. Many of the apartments are only sporadically occupied, functioning as pied-à-terres, or as real-estate based "safe deposit boxes" for parking money.
So not only are these vile things incredibly ugly, they are also (what a surprise!) utterly pernicious.

They give nothing back to the city because the developers are building cheap designs to save a buck.

For cheap designs, see Kaufman or Sam Chang hotels which there are a few threads on SSP documenting those cheap, aesthetically anemic towers. The ones listed in those links are far from cheap. Yeah if cheap is used in the context of amusement or a joke... than ... but in a context with a serious face...

Cheap design is relative. Gary saved a bunch over a more complicated option. He chose to penny pinch and save money rather than putting design first. That's cheap. A box is probably the easiest style of building to build, the most common and cost effective to do.

Renderings Revealed For World’s Highest Residential Club In Central Park Tower

Quote:
Extell has revealed renderings of the Central Park Tower’s 100th floor residential club. Perched over 1,000 feet above Billionaires’ Row, this will be the highest residential lounge in the world. The club will span 8,300 square feet and include a private ballroom, a dining room, a bar, a full-service kitchen, and a wine and cigar lounge. The 1,550-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed 217 West 57th Street, is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and will contain 179 residences, on which Extell is expecting a $4 billion sellout. The 100th floor club is designed by Rottet Studio, which also designed the residential interiors.

The Central Park Tower’s amenities will be managed by a lifestyle specialist that has yet to be named. Additional amenities located from the 14th to 16th floors include an outdoor terrace with a swimming pool and cabanas, a private screening room, a residential lounge, a children’s playground, a full floor of spa amenities with a fitness center.

Meanwhile, the crown’s glass cladding is finally beginning to take shape. The thin vertical slots in the envelope can be spotted on the western elevation. Work on this final exterior section should wrap up by the middle of the year.

I wish Worldwide Plaza had about 400 or more extra feet of height.
