225 W57 is significantly taller to roof, per permits.
225 W57 is still speculative at this moment, so yeah.

225 W57 isn't really any more speculative than 432 Park.

Obviously neither exist, but both are financed and fully permitted. In some ways 225 is further along, because it has a must-open date for Nordstrom (which will own its space), while 432 has no deadline for completion, and no development partners.

432 Park should have a year or two before the Nordstrom tower catches and exceeds it in height. Not a long time, but similar to the way the WTC was tallest until the Sears surpassed it in height.

Dont want to derail this thread but 225 W57 is going to get built? I thought it was just proposed right now.

It's in the permit filing process, and has a targeted completion date of 2018 (for which the store will need to open). A portion of the site is still being cleared, but yes it should be under construction before the end of the year. But it isn't under construction yet. Read more about it here.

It isn't u/c, but it's already going through the permitting process, with an opening date of no later than early 2018 for the Nordstrom store (which is the biggest chunk of financing), and which will own its portion of the building.

There's really no such thing as "proposed" in NYC, because a building is either permitted or it isn't. I mean, we can propose anything in SSP vernacular, but permits aren't pulled unless its going to be built.

If it's as of right, doesn't need to go through the approvals process, and has financing, its really not a proposal. But even towers that are approved to rise are proposals until they are actually being built. This tower was a proposal until someone made the decision to put it into the ground. But there are other proposals out there that may never get built.

I assumed it was for a jump.

I think the white sections they brought in are for a jump. The black ones are likely the second crane. The base of the crane for the 57th side was black.

The black 15 or 20' tall bottom or base section for the crane that was lowered down back in november is not in the hole today. You can see the concrete on the bottom level in this shot. They removed that section after it was lowered down.

A tipster sent over the above photos showing progress at 432 Park Avenue, noting "This has got to be one of the cleanest construction sites in the city." The photo on the right shows the shape of the building, and, as our tipster writes, "it is going to be one incredibly tall, skinny building!" Indeed.
