The structure with the wall was already an existing ramp down into the parking. The park will be permanent.

Yeah, it's a tricky design challenge with the parking ramp right behind that wall. I don't think they could build anything in front of the wall, either, since the park can't be reduced in size under the terms of the PD. The residents of 505 N McClurg currently use that parking ramp, so it can't be shut down or relocated easily.

I don't mind a blank wall if it's honest-to-God stone like the rest of the base. It will have a bit of a fortress look to it, but at least it'll weather and show its age over time. Maybe some vines will grow. The new layout of the park focuses the attention away from that wall anyway.

Jan 6 - Nice extension of the eastern skyline when viewed from Hyde Park. Impressive heading north on LSD as well.

From that view I kinda wish they would have put two/three floor townhomes over the park area with an elevated park on top of them. Just seems it needs some fill-in at street view at the low park level. Especially if another tower isn't possible above the underground parking in the future.
