Thanks for the correction!

I couldn't remember, let alone spell Psuedio, so I meant to say, 'at the former Randy location.' but, unfortunately, my brain seems to work faster than I can type! Also, I must admit I was too lazy to check over my post. Me bad! That said, is it really that long .... 8-years? Wow, how time flies!

Since I'm still lazy, I didn't check and see if anyone already posted this, but I noticed that Eney in Market Square, is also closing. I hate to see businesses close, be they large or small.

Haha - no worries. On the Market Square note.... Telus will be opening there this summer.

I heard from a fellow working at Home Depot that The Brick will be taking over the old Lounsbury location.

The new Tim Hortons at the corner of McDonald and Loch Lomond is now open (that was fast!). And as expected, the Tims in Loch Lomond Mall is now closed. I'm sure all the call centre workers will appreciate having to walk outside to the new location in the winter

From Fredericton? The only one I could think of that might fit would be Hotchkiss. They seem to be doing well, steadily growing up here (got my own couch from there last year), so if they're looking to grow, a SJ location would fit.

Finally!

A location of The Brick for Saint John!

They are a GREAT retailer. =)

As for the rest of the former Sears, I still hope a grocery store can go in there somewhere....McAllister Place would be wise to stay in the grocery game, as it'll always make money.

Hmm, well now that I think of it, there are 3 major furniture stores in Freddy:
* Hotchkiss
* Valley Ridge
* Worrall's

Of the three, Hotchkiss feels the most like it could be on an expansion mode. The other two have been in Freddy forever and a day, and just don't give the impression that they are trying to grow out of their niche much.

Hotchkiss is constantly on the radio, and seem to be aggressively establishing their place in the city. They've set up temporary "overstock" stores in Regent Mall and the Northside Farmers Market, and are very much trying to stay in people's minds. They feel like a store that would look to add a new city/location to their stores.

Worrall's would be the second most likely to expand. They've been around for a long time and are well established; but they do buy local ad time. Does SJ have a LazyBoy dealer? If not, than Worralls would probably look to grab space in the market that way.

Valley Ridge seems to be a mystery how they survive (or they just don't advertise much on Up and Fox ). Maybe once or twice a year I hear ads from them on the radio, and otherwise they just exist. I can't remember a time when they weren't in the city over the past few decades, but they also don't seem to be considering expansion mode, so they seem least likely to expand downriver.

There might be a few others (like Lewis Furniture on Smythe between Canadian Tire and Jungle Jims) but they just seem to be as they are, and don't seem likely to be expanding at all.

Valley Ridge is quite high end, I think they have a fairly small clientele that keeps them in business.

I just wonder if you're able to get some pictures of what that part of McAllister Place will look like the day Marshall's-HomeSense opens?

And in terms of Winners, does the exit of HomeSense mean that whole building will be a Winners store now?

Strange... I was on Bay Ferries the other day chatting to the Tourist Info lady, and she mentioned that there was a casino going there as well.

I didn't think much of it and thought she was just confusing the Museum announcement with this.

So there's rumours swirling, just not sure where they're coming from.
