Such a massive tower. Such a great city. Who says you can't mix the old and the new?

Agreed!!

I shot this pic about a year ago from Jersey City Heights... 10 Hudson Yards (and Midtown in general) was so frickin' massive. Think it's time I go back again for an updated pic with all the HY towers U/C (especially 30 HY).

You should do that every year now.

BTW, did they stop lighting up the top of 383 Madison (formerly the Bear Stearns tower)?

We are looking at the future midtown skyline and as we all know, construction is like air: we love it so much, it will never end!

Well I'm curious if the soon impending merger of Time Warner and At@t might effect the tower in any way.

With so many assets in NY with regards to Time Warner, the merger might actually benefit the city as more space will be needed. I doubt at&T would relocate Time Warner to Texas, where its HQ is at. If anything, you'd see more AT&T entities move to NY as thats where the center of power and talent is at.

What's fascinating to me is how the buildings just seem to "float" above the rail yard.

Something similar in California would no doubt require a great deal of more engineering to realize.

A lot needs to happen prior to such a deal closing … this tower will likely be topped out and them some if/when the deal is officially done. Not to mention practically all of TimeWarner's competitors are based in Manhattan … AT&T will treat TimeWarner as Comcast does NBC Universal.

It won't have any effect. The tower is already full, so Related just gave up the space it planned to take for another tenant. Like Coach and Wells Fargo, Time Warner owns the space it is taking at the tower (for HBO, CNN, etc.). Now, I could see something going on at 50 Hudson, but not here.
