Regional airports are teaming up to solve custum problems. They will meet up "Stockwell Day...." to finally get things fixed next week.

Lawsuit would be the next step in the case the Federal does not meet expectations.

I'm not very familiar with the area (just the BigStop/Tim Horton's itself) or I'd do one for you, but here's one way you can do it:

1) Create a map using Google Maps, using the line tool to "frame" the development area

2) Press Alt+Print Screen on PC (can't remember on Mac) to take a snapshot of your computer screen

3) Paste the snapshot into an image editor (even Paint would probably work), and crop it to show only the map

4) Upload it to a photo-hosting site like photobucket or pbase. If you don't have one, you can send it along to someone else who does (just pm them to get their email, even myself if you want)

Or, you can skip steps 2, 3 and 4 and just post the link to your Google Map (but you have to save the map and paste the address from "Get link to this map")

Hope that helped.

The 1-story building at the corner of Luzt and Main will be fully destroyed.

Actually only two walls remain. Moreover, they are also doing major works (destruction) in the rest of the building.

Arghh, looks like the links didn't work. I'll try and get it working when I get home. My connection is much better.

Sorry for the size and quality (the pic is from my cell at 120km/h ). Here's the Hampton Inn yesterday afternoon:

And here's where that new subdivision is going...

I noticed that all of the framing for the Best Western was taken down yesterday. They must've had it there for shelter in the winter. Let's hope they pick things up a little now that the weather is better.

Thanks for the help with the images, Smevo

I'm no fan of suburban development, but I am glad to see Salisbury getting a piece of the growth in SE NB.

Downtown Hub City casino proposal favourite of Downtown Moncton Inc

April 29, 2008 - 2:43 pm
By: Rebecca Davis, News 91.9 Staff

MONCTON, NB-The New Brunswick Government will decide in less than a month which proposal best meets their specific criteria for a destination casino in the province.

Four have been submitted, and the Executive Director of Downtown Moncton Inc says he's backing one being proposed for the Hub City's downtown core.

Daniel Allain says an over 1 million dollar proposal submitted to the provincial government by some well known local business people from Moncton is the one the Shawn Graham Liberals should pick.

It would be located on Assomption Boulevard between Westmorland and Lutz Street.

Allain says it would help Moncton grow and develop more in the future.

The proposal would mean a 20 thousand square foot convention centre, along with a Marriott hotel, 2 restaurants and, of course a destination casino amongst other things

Surely he must mean 100 million, not 1...

Even ten million would be a huge stretch. You couldn't build a 20,000 foot building for less than a few million. Add to that a hotel, two restaurents and a casino and you're looking at some big dollars.

You`re right ! The convention center seem to have been downsized, that would mean they could avoid to get Federal help to get it done. Its a good thing to me.

Morever, they proposed a concert hall within the Casino building.

20,000 sq/ft is a bit disappointing. I was really hoping for something closer to 50,000. However, the other three might include more space, and the hotel proposed would likely have some of its own. As well, the convention space at the Delta is only a short trip away from there.

Exactly. So maybe they will plan rooms in order to get expansion. On the other hand, if the arena project going through, that place might be use to host larger events.

So yes, it's a bit disappointing.

Downtown casino touted

C103 NEWS UPDATE

The head of a Moncton merchants group says a New Brunswick casino belongs downtown. Daniel Allain of Downtown Moncton Centre-Ville "Inc," in an opinion piece Tuesday, says located there, a casino would spur further development and offer spin-off benefits to local businesses. Allain says one located in the city sprawl or even outside doesn't become an economic generator. Government is expected to choose between four options in the coming weeks.

1. Hampton Inn is HUGE! kinda junky its way out by the TCH and not downtown, but oh well, a nice 6 story hotel is great no matter where it goes

2. The Casino should go downtown, and I will be VERY dissapointed if it doesnt...Ill still be happy about the development, but this deserves to be an urban development.

The 1 million dollar proposal....might be the cost of the 'proposal' not the structure themselves.

I was kind of hoping that a new 'arena' would be part of some of these proposal's...the Coliseum has got to go.

I heard a rumor the other day that one proposal has the Casino going across the street from the Coliseum (where MX Carting is) and would be connected to the Coliseum with a pedway.
