Brownsville (Never Ran, Never Will), Brooklyn - N.Y.C

On this found city thread, we will be looking at the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, NYC. Officially one of the toughest neighborhoods in all of New York City, if not the most. Home of hip hop artist such as M.O.P, Sean Price, Buckshot, Smif-n-Wessun (aka Cocoa Brovaz), it was even the home to former knock out heavy weight champion Mike Tyson. The neighborhood also contains the largest public housing (projects) concentration in all of NYC. Now welcome your eyes to the "Never Ran, Never Will" as it is colloquially known.

I used to live a few neighborhoods away from Brownsville (SOP) which had a rough reputation (but much of New York did). Supposedly it's seeing better days now. Just another slice of the Apple.

Didn't know there are still such rough areas in NY! It's a bit odd to see the contrast between the rundown houses and the modern cars.

Charming, but a taste of what used to be in abundance not exactly too long ago.

There will always be "rough areas" in New York. It's a city of over 8 million people! That's more than most states.

Fascinating. Brownsville/East New York is really the only corner of Brooklyn I've never seen in person, even though I can see it's housing projects from my window and I can only ponder from a distance...
