Looks like there is 4 more stories and a parapet to go

I guess we are getting spoiled. When you can see it from the connector, it is out of range...

A (kinda) pic of the lobby.

Thanks for those pics Julien. I've got to get down there to get a first hand look at it.

I've been surprised that this has not become more visible headed into town from the north on the downtown connector. The last few times I did that I've been craning my neck to see if I can find it and in spite of its height I never seem to be able to spot it.

Yea you can only see it (barely) from the connector driving north into downtown.

Really disappointing, unless you are in the immediate area.

The pic of the lobby shows how much land is wasted in the development. Could have been multiple towers on that vast amount of acreage of the site.

2 shorter towers with the same footprint (1000 rooms is the business goal)? I would have rather they added about >8" to each floor (or a 30' crown) and hit >493' so we could finally have another true skyscraper. So close but no cigar.

I mean throw out the FAR and build two towers the size of whatever developers are willing to take on. Could be two over 500’, so long as we aren’t putting 80% of the parcel with barely anything above it and no break in the massing.

Isn't the unbuilt parcel part of the plaza where the Ga Dome was?

They are talking about the north side, where the lobby is— I think the north end of the dome was right there where the new hotel is now.

But if we're listing gripes, I've got one— why is there such resistance to putting a ramp down to Magnolia Street? It irks the OCD part of me that the two streets are finally, *almost reconnected* to each other again, but separated by 4 stories of vertical concrete.

The GWCC Authority was just never interested in it despite people asking for it years ago. I know it was theorized that they didn't want extra access to the site (and thus downtown) for Vine City/English Ave residents, but that doesn't hold much weight considering the massive GWCC entrance already present on Northside anyway.

Well, the building is in a weird spot to begin with. You're not gonna really see it from the connector. It has a pretty good presence from 20E coming into town though.

Also it mainly stands out because it is isolated. There are about 25 buildings in ATL that are taller.
