Just noticed the tower crane while heading east on Wacker. Should have a solid impact.

The scale of this thing is massive, it's way more impressive than I thought.

This one will be killer regardless but if the glass ends up making that color transition wave like the drawing depicts its going to be incredible.

I think the color transition is just exaggerated lighting, probably added to the rendering to accentuate the shape of the tower.

I know, I was just saying I hope the reflections and shadows plays with the light in that way with the body and shape of the building so it almost looks like different colored glass. Sunlight can be used as a paintbrush sometimes. The glass color transition would be cool too but probably pretty pricey. Doesnt one57 in ny do that?

Unless they have changed the program, the glass will be different shades of the same color.

Well this is not the case. The glass will have the varying colors as seen in the rendering.

"One very compelling aspect of this skyscraper triumvirate (as if its overall form is not already enough) will be the adept tinting and placement of its window glass. As currently planned, multiple shades of exterior bluish glass will be employed on its façade. By colored shade, each pane’s location will be systematically determined for maximum visual effect; the tower’s enclosure system will artistically respond to its structural system. As designed, darker shaded panes will reside at the narrow or pinch-points of the towers and alternate with lighter tinted panes at the locations of the larger floor plates. These glass-shading differences will emphasize the undulating aspects of each of the three fused towers. What a tour de force this will make, close up and at a distance."

Awesome! I also assumed that the difference in shading was just exaggerated shadow work in order to better render the undulating shape of the facade.

Now I really can't wait for the glass to start going up!

Here's a big update!

From the 35th floor balcony, I could barely fit the full building in a single shooting at an ultra wide 14mm

Here's a two-frame vertical panorama that fits in the entire tower crane

My 'blueprint' edit:

Climbing formwork for installing glass on the slope walls?

Call me crazy, but these spandrel panes definitely have a greenish-teal tinge to them. It's still probably won't be the green we hoped for *but* I don't think it's going to be true blue. While a small sample, the way these panes photograph remind me much more of the way Wolf Point West photographs than say Trump or 150.

This is cool. I'll keep it in mind when I take the next photos so we have a better matchup on the angle.
