Hello Domer2019

It is my understanding that Dalian Wanda has a large loan payment due at the end of March.

"...a repayment, of $510 million worth of bank loans by March 31,..."

From personal business interactions with Chinese, would not trust their book keeping.

I keep my fingers crossed that this project does not take the path of the former Waterview Tower and now non Shangri La Hotel.

Chicago, October 4, 2005, "...We are extremely delighted and honored that Shangri-La has selected Waterview Tower and Chicago as their entry into the United States," said Ivan Dvorak, chief executive officer of Waterview LLC..."

Shangri-La Hotels Selected as Operator for 200-room Condominium Hotel Within the 90-story Waterview Tower Development in Chicago

I was looking forward to the addition of the Shangri La Hotel to the Chicago line up. At the time I stayed, they were the best hotel in Taipei and Xian.

Major sigh.....Do some of you bother to read this thread? This nonsense has been debunked ad nauseum.

And if you don’t know the difference between Waterview and this project, then you shouldn’t even be commenting on this topic

Hello the urban politician

I simply do not share your level of confidence relative to contract fruition.

Yes, I have been reading this tread and from the start.

Is it not okay for readers such as myself and person that has earned my liberties and freedom to have and or share a difference of opinion pertaining to a dynamic business sector? A building/construction sector I have personally watched relative to the Chicago market for greater than 40 years without finding it necessary to address what appears to be conflict resolution short comings by self impressed others, with their drama laden desire to enforce forbidden subject matters and or topics?

I kind of never understand your rather otherworldly posts, but I will respond with this: This project and Waterview have nothing in common. Zilch. Other than the fact that a Chinese hotel was involved.

And thats why your lack “of confidence regarding contract fruition” comes from being totally uninformed. You seem to know nothing about how lender financing works.

Just to clarify, I was being sarcastic about the amusement park

http://variety.com/2017/biz/news/fiv...ks-1202490769/

Considering how they're not idiots and they know their debt obligations and financing leading into this project, I don't really see a need apart from China being demanding just for the sake of macroeconomics.

Here's the 2015 10k because why not

Umm yeah, every penny necessary to build this is already in a title escrow account where it can't be touched except to pay contractors. Wanda is selling their stake for that reason: there is no way to get their money back except to sell their stake. Again, let's be clear, the very fact that there is something to sell here is evidence that their money is already tied up and the deal is done. If that weren't the case then there would be nothing to sell...

There are 43 skyscrapers currently under construction that are taller than this. What would be the reason for world wide recognition? Architecture awards and the like wouldn't occur until completion.

Recognition should not be about height

It's just so BIG and has killer vantage points from so many angles.

Anyone know what floor we're on now?

You know a tower is going to be a classic when it looks good from every angle despite having zero cladding. Its like watching Aqua go up again.

Absolutely! I'm actually agree with you. Looking good. Be sure if they can build a supertall tower.
