Where did everyone go? I've noticed the London Local is also a little slow.

A different forum was created for Waterloo Region some time ago and most of the region's forummers participate there. It is really quite active.

Wonderful Waterloo (... The name is actually blocked on SSP of you take out the space - - See?) is the separate development forum for those in Waterloo region. It's actually quite active and puts this local London section to shame.

I met with their webmaster some time ago about doing something like that for London. Love London was the result, and it failed.

I spend 1% of my ssp time on the London local. Which means that I would almost never visit a separate site devoted to only London.

as for the KW local, at one time 90% of the posts (I am not joking) was by, yup, you guessed it, waterlooinvestor (RIM!)

4 Western Fair buildings to die this year: http://www.lfpress.com/2013/04/11/we...gs-for-parking

The Western Fair is a sea of parking spaces already... Do they really need more for the slots? It seems anything that promotes gambling is game these days, especially for the province.

The IMAX is a fairly new building with a ton of potential uses. It just saddens me to see something that had a big impact on my childhood demolished.

The best film I saw at IMAX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrYJo...BB00C2&index=1

I remember going to the Western Fair when I was a kid in the 70s........it was a big deal.

All the incredibly greasy food, kitch souvenir stands, and the great midway. My favorites were always the Super-Himalaya and the Holiday Bounce.

I assume this is all happening to make way for either a new building or extending the casino in the future?

No there's a need for more parking... somehow.

There hasn't been any further word about expanding the slots to a casino and we don't even know that if a casino is approved that it would go in this location. It could be built downtown or something.

I'll admit, I don't think it's the prettiest-looking building. London has lost some real gems (cue Arcade Fire... "pay the cost for what we have lost"), this doesn't really come close to them, but I have a feeling it will be replaced with either surface parking or something that's even less pretty.

I know some people really enjoy playing Bingo... I never really got into it, play it like once a year at the bingo tent during the Western Fair.

Some people are obsessed with slots, and I'm not sure why because they have some of the worst odds in any casino game. Guess the idea that they will win a huge jackpot keeps them coming.
-I'd rather play a game like Blackjack, which has the best odds in a casino if you know some pretty basic strategy. There's digital Blackjack at the slots but I'm pretty sure it's rigged as much as possible.

Also the OLG recently revealed a $20 lottery ticket... Really?

Such a dead thread. Perhaps we should rename it the Thamesford thread and more people will be interested.
