Korean

Are there any Korean restaurants at all in London? I can't seem to find one.

I'm in Stratford. Several Koreans here have told me there's a Korean place at Oxford and Wharncliffe, but it seems to have closed long ago. There's Take Sushi and Korean on Wellington, but it's quite expensive and isn't strictly Korean food per se (rather, it's more a Koreans-selling-sushi setup that is typical in the hinterlands of Ontario).

Is Take the only place to get Korean food in London?

Bul Go Gee House Restaurant
(519) 681-4050
631 Commissioners Rd E, London, Ontario

Ate there 20 years ago and it was great, and it's still around, so it must still be pretty decent.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that's now a Japanese restaurant (run by Koreans, of course) with a different name. We were actually sent there about three months ago by the people in the Korean supermarket in the strip mall one black north on Wellington, seems even they weren't aware that it was out of business.

Too bad, I was hoping there would be at least one regular Korean restaurant in London aside from Take, but I guess not.

Good Korean food can be had at:

Seoul Garden Sushi House
758 York (near Lyle)
London, ON N5W

(519) 660-0008‎

My wife is Korean-Canadian, so I eat plenty of Korean food!

And it is run/staffed by Koreans...in fact, I am always the only caucasian in the joint.

We tried to go to this place yesterday, but were met with a sign on the front door put there by the landlord declaring that the tenant was being evicted. Too bad.

London really seems to be shortchanged in the area of Korean food.

We've been there once. It's run by Chinese, so while they do a half-decent kung pao chicken, I wouldn't touch anything Korean there.

Brand-new Gozen (not the old one, but a much more upscale version) on Queens at Clarence. Good Korean eats, if mainly Japanese fare.

Soo Dam on Wharncliffe has been our go-to spot for Korean in London for several years now. Last night we were there after a long hiatus, and it didn't disappoint. The the pork in the gamjatang was as succulent and tender as any we've ever had anywhere.

Highly recommended.

Hands-down, the very best Korean restaurant was called the Korean Restaurant.
https://www.google.ca/maps/@42.98134...7i13312!8i6656

It was in a shabby part of town (Hamilton & Adelaide), but had by far the best Korean food in the city. We went once per week (helps that my wife is ethic Korean).

Now the pickings are slim for authentically good Korean food. Ozen is consistently quite good but it is trendy and too popular. Other places are inconsistent (Manna Grill, Gangnam Style, Kim Chi House, Gozen, Soo Dam, etc...plus a handful of Japanese-Korean restaurants downtown).
