according to the stacking diagram below, it's really 113 above-grade floors (including all mechanical and parking levels)

i counted the floors myself.

i hadn't seen this angle large scale yet.

from this vantage point, this tower makes a lot more sense to me.

the context of tribune and the equitable building (under-appreciated) is just fantastic!

what a terrific composition this would make, a dialogue across decades and centuries.

I was already sold, but that image will make me defend this design to the end

^^^ it looks like there are ripples in the west facing facade, is that just supposed to be the sun reflecting?

^That's called aliasing, specifically a moiré pattern. It's either a rendering artifact, an image-scaling artifact, or both.

Having that effect happen in real life would be awesome, though...

Wow, thats gorgeous. I'm glad that block is an elongated one, with the Tribune Addition occupying the furthest possible distance from the Tribune Tower in order to not overwhelm it. I think once its built, the gold fins and flying buttress crown will very much compliment the Tribune Tower from a pedestrian's perspective. I think even uninitiated passerbys should be able to identify the historic context in the design.

The more renderings I see, the more I love this project. Please please please build and do not screw it up

I agree with your comment about the Equitable Building. An underrated gem.

My favorite view (along with Adler) in Chicago is at Pioneer (heh) Court overlooking the Chicago River southwesterly to London Guarantee, JewelersBuilding, etc. I suspect in about 4-5 years -- hopefully -- I can pivot 180 degrees and view my *third-favorite* skyline vantage point in Chicago with full view of the Tribune Building, Trib2, and the the Equitable.

This rendering also makes me really want that riverfront parking lot developed west of the Sheraton. Hell, I'd take a park at this point.

It will eventually be developed. Its way too valuable to sit as surface parking forever.

I'm hoping whatever goes there doesn't fully block the view of NBC tower from the river.

As others have pointed out, it's because the picture has been improperly resized in whatever manner.

I must say after modeling this building in 3d, I'm truly starting to appreciate its form. It's really quite graceful.

Unless I misunderstand, those are not gold fins and details. They're bronze, the architect's subtle nod to the elegance of the Equitable Building.

Would be interesting to see the original massing Rgarri made with the cladding of these renderings. The corners with the north-south facade and the other portions with the east-west facade, or vise versa.

Right.... and the reds in this painting are a subtle nod to the elegance of the ketchup on the burger I had for lunch today...

You pretty much described the design I based my original massing off of.
