On the next ZBA (March 20th):

* 4025-27 N Broadway - 6 floors and 20 units from Akara Partners. This replaces that closed down Ace Furniture.

* Hampton Inn Hotel near Loyola University (145 rooms)

* 1 year extension request for expansion/reconstruction of 95th Street Red Line stop

^That 4025 N Broadway proposal reminds me of this proposal for the lot located just east of Ashland on Fullerton:

Unfortunately, the rendering is not an accurate representation of how it's actually turning out. I'll try to snap a pic later today.

I hope that Loyola hotel gets built, would be good for that area. They should let Brunos run the hotel bar!

Nothing will EVER displace Brunos. It is staying.

I told ya it'ld look better when they covered up the beaver board.

That's a local boy, Brent Norsman.
We've had our differences, but he's no slouch as an architect.

^ Interesting. I wonder if they are using a different material other than slate - there were major cost overruns at the first boathouse in Clark Park, and they had to get a donation from WMS Gaming across the river to avoid a major value-engineer.

Anyway, glad to see some world-class architecture come to the South Branch, right in my backyard...

Also, Im sure everyone has seen this on Curbed already, but the Illinois Medical District Gateway project is finally set to move forward. The developer secured a 75 year ground lease earlier this month, and are looking to break ground either this spring or summer.

^ That's probably the best we're going to get from the IMD people, so I say go with it. The IMD is an utterly depressing, anti-urban dystopia stuck in mid 20th century planning, and anything to develop some of this vacant land into something far more intense and active (and not outright strip shopping centers) is fine by me.

Should help to aid development in the Tri-Taylor area.

^ Completely agree. For where it is, and the history of development in that area, without a doubt this could be much, much, much worse.....
