3675 Science Center
37th and Market

Quote:
3675 Market Street, a 12-story, 325,000 SF Class A laboratory/office building. The project is currently in the design phase with a projected start date in late 2015. The project requires the demolition of an existing parking garage and office building. The removal of these buildings allows for site re-configuration that will allow for a future extension of 37th Street from Filbert to Market Street in addition to the proposed new lab/office building and plaza. The project will serve as the cornerstone as the Science Center expands its mixed-use environment to the former University City High School site. The building will contain flexible wet laboratory space, computational laboratory space, office, retail and a shared work/conference meeting space. The building will be designed for 60% office and 40% laboratory.

Looks Awesome! University City is really killing it with density and infills on nearly every block. I hope this pushes development of lots on Market between 19th and Schuylkill (especially the big lot between TJ and the PECO building) to create one continuous city sprawl. Its a perfect spot for a nice tower

I'm digging how it meets the street there. U City needs some street life with glass and bright lighting I hope it brings that

Update on Manayunk’s Isle Apartments

And I vaguely remember some discussion on this but Dow is officially moving out of CC now:

Dow Chemical to exit Center City, move 350 staffers to Collegeville

More complaining about CC designs and developers. No mention of W hotel, 500 Walnut, One riverside, SLS condos, etc. At least we know she's a fan of liberty prop trust though.

But a lot of what is being built in Center City IS ho-hum!

But yes, she did fail to mention some of the better designed buildings going up. All the ones you mentioned (except One Riverside - just okay) + FMC, 1500 Walnut (too magnificent of a design to be only 3 stories!), and that new, colorful CHOP building.

My guess is that she puts a higher bar on the core neighborhoods than she does on what is essentially a glorified office park.

It looks like the wonderful Hale Building is finally going to be renovated into offices and retail. Great news!

When I was a Math major at Drexel(1971) my friend had gone to St Joe's prep and they had their annual alumni concert there and he took me to it. Unlike today it was a period of decline and shrinkage for CC. It is great to see what was once a bleak wind swept derelict stretch of North Broad St return from the dead.

Update pics of One Water Street - since I know some forget about it (including me) since its not in the Philly main forum -
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...29#post7101729

Lots of new homes, condos near 205 Race and Front Street - apologies I don't have addresses of all of these. Seems like every street has new construction going on here, and Fishtown, and Grad Hosp area.

Thanks for all the great pix! I noticed the same thing driving around just south of South Street a couple of weeks ago: it seemed like there was new residential construction underway on virtually every block.
