Agreed. There was no need for that. How are people supposed to know where the shot was taken from?

Exactly! With no known landmarks in the shot the only way you'd know is if you're familiar with the area. If I was familiar with the area I wouldn't have asked the question.

Virtually all of Daemon’s pics come from one spot so it’s not hard to figure out where the photo was taken.

The former #508 (3412sf) had been on the market for $2,375,000 a couple years ago, and unclear what #504's ask price would have been, but basically, the combined city valuation is in the right ballpark. That's a crazy starting point from which to demolish the homes and start from scratch.

New home is to be approximately 8000sf. Can't find any more specifics for it, however. I've not seen the building permit itself.

Daemon - thanks for taking time out of your commute to school to take your photos of this construction site. While it is SFH, it is likely one of the most expensive currently under construction within the city limits. Next time you pass by and there is a notable enough construction update for you to capture, could you take a panoramic photo with your phone?

Thanks for all the info Sub. Wasn’t sure where Daemon was going with this when he first posted the picture, but now I see! That’s gonna be one massive mansion with a stellar view! Can’t wait to see the finished product! About a year from now would you say?

Here's some more info from the real estate agency that sold the buyer the two lots. The size of the lot is huge: 100" frontage and 175' depth which apparently is nearly 1/4 acre of land.

Crane base is going in for the save-on-foods anchored large rental complex across from the children's hospital.

It looks like this home is way closer to the curb than the house immediately to its west. Given the angle to the DT view, it will likely cut-off a portion of the view for its neighbour's multi-million dollar infill! Wonder if the neighbour paid attention during the posting phase. There is also hardly any separation between houses!

Take a picture of the signage on the fence if it is revealing at all.

It is not like I wouldn't live there, and I'm sure the spaces / views from the terrace and through the massive windows will be exceptional - but it does lack character and is somewhat an intimidating structure. Still, I'd certainly take it if offered to me.

To think $4.5 million just to secure the two lots / clear the combined plot!

What type of costs for this type of construction IE all metal beams / curved spaces, massive glass, likely top notch quality for 8K sf above grade?

Curious who owns this thing. It seems there is some concern about security also - the front perimeter stepped up like that is a great way to ensure no one rams their car into the home, and the metal fencing along the side / back confirms it wasn't just aesthetics.

The prices people will pay for a lot in Calgary continue to astound me - less than a block away from our home in Highwood someone just paid over $550,000 for a R2C lot and they still have to demolish/move the existing home to build their new single home. $350-400,000 used to be the bulldoze benchmark in our community but I guess that's gone up considerably.
