Post Your favorite bars in your city / Bars with most draught beers / your local

On a lighter subject than what we're use to seeing on here, what is the names of the bars in your city with the most number of different beers on tap. It will be interesting to compile a list for the beer aficionados among us.

Rules are simple: name and location of the bar, link to Yelp/Google/FourSquare profile, the number of beers on tap, and a picture of the interior or exterior.

****

The List

1. Howells and Hood - Chicago, IL - 113
2. Old Town Pour House - Chicago, IL - 90
3. The Ginger Man - New York, NY - 70
4. City Tap House - Philadelphia, PA - 60
5.

****

The Ginger Man - New York, NY - 70 beers on draught

11 E 36th St
New York, NY 10016

Quote:
This is a New York City beer institution for a reason. It gets bonus points for bringing a stellar beverage selection to an area with fairly limited options. Get there early — this bar's reputation means that it's always packed.

the most i've seen in chicago is Old Town Pour House with 90 beers on draft.

It's a somewhat cheesy chain sports bar with one location in the city (the original one in old town) and two locations out in the burbs (naperville & oak Brook).

all three locations apparently have 90 beers on draft; it's their gimmick.

EDIT:

they apparently also now have a location in Gaithersburg, MD as well.

flying saucer is going to be the biggest selection of draft beer for a lot of cities, they usually have at least 80 beers on draft.

the answer for chicago is probably howells and hood in the first floor of Tribune tower. They have no bottles at all and claim 300 taps. The main bar is nuts

I stand corrected for chicago.

however, they don't have 300 unique brews on draft. from their website:

Quote:
The most craft beer on draft in Chicago, we offer 114 unique craft beers, flowing through 360 beer taps, across 3 separate bars. The beer list represents all styles of craft beer available worldwide, and also highlights the best craft beer in Chicago, with over 20% of the draft handles dedicated to Chicago craft breweries.

right

but they do have kentucky bourbon barrel ale on draft, which I don't see often here. And that's one that counts!

however that is not the best beer bar here

I believe City Tap House wins for Philadelphia with 60 taps. If you can settle for bottles, we have Monk's, which I recall previously being named the #3 best place to have a beer in the world behind some Abbaye in Belgium, and the Great American Beer Festival.

Updated. Remember link and pics!

How to handle chain locations? Right now I'm only listing only the flagship location per the primary city of a metro area.

Not my town, but adjacent Costa Mesa has one of my longtime watering holes, Goat Hill Tavern and they have 141 beers on tap.

I didn't think they had that many when I went, but it was shortly after they had opened so not sure how much has changed.

Not in LA city limits but Uncle Henry's Deli is this tiny little place in Downey and has 105 beers on tap and over 300 specialty/rare beers as well.

i'm in a tavern in my city that only has about 20 taps. that's a good sweet spot, i think, for a neighborhood place. some places try to have too many taps and cant take care of the lines or end up with old beer.

yeah, i'm a little leery of these places with 50+ different beers on draft. that's a shit-ton of product to clear in a timely fashion, and miles of lines to properly clean and maintain.

but today's standard of 10-20 taps is nice, and that range provides more than enough options for what i'm able to sample in a single session these days anyway.

thank god the bad old old days of "we have both kinds of beer on draft, bud and bud light" are gone forever.

they should have stuck to serving fudd only.

Like Centropolis and Steely Dan mentioned above, I'm extremely leery of most places advertising huge numbers of taps. They can sometimes pull it off, but you need VERY high turnover. Sticking to the rotating taps is usually a good idea too.

In Toronto I believe the highest number of unique beers on tap is Craft Brasserie at 120. There may be a mega sized sports bar with more taps, but there will be a lot of repetition. I know Craft does clean their lines regularly and will replace something that's been sitting too long, but still not my vibe.

The best craft beer bars in the city have around 30 taps, and my two favourite are smaller local places with about 15 but make sure to get only get unique stuff. And have plenty of bottles in the fridge. They also only take cash and if they bartender knows you seem to have a habit of charging "how about $25?" regardless of how much you drink.

Agreed with all the above.. The most taps is dumb honestly.. 25 to 30 is the ideal number
