Retail SHOULD be similar to a nearby building which happens to be known as the elegant, fabulous, and vivacious Fuller Building. (Here's a pic)

^ So just imagine something like this MINUS all the art deco.

Stupid question:

How are the outer columns connected to the concrete core? Id imagine the core is load bearing so they would need large beams/ reinforced concrete for the flooring.

^ Yes, interesting question. And due to sway of the building, I guess they also should assemble diagonal rebar outriggers like in Abu Dhabi Central Market building.

^ If i remember correctly,a person who works at the site said until the building reaches the 7th floor that's when we'll see it rise at a a floor every three days.

That opening is most likely there for hoisting and delivering material to those below-ground floors.

We can't be too far off from a crane jump, especially on the 57th Street side.

I don't know this for sure but it seems like crane are only raised on weekends in the city. Is this true or am I imagining things?

With the forms being installed for the concrete pour (56 st) you can see what the facade will look like in regards to the scale of the glass panels.

Almost all crane jumps are done on weekends since the collapse a few years ago on the east side. The core was poured again today, so it should rise again Tuesday at the latest. It is self lifting, so I do not believe the crane needs to be jumped for it. The 7th floor is in fact when the building will take off. That's the transfer floor when the north side of the site goes from four columns behind the 7 story base to the same 6 column square configuration seen on the south side right now. After that, the building will fly, as almost everything will be sliding forms and the only columns are the exterior ones.

There is much space for hoisting at the Park Ave side (the large open pit).
And this hole is quite close to the crane tower, which is not the most logical spot to hoist.

My guess is that a construction elevator will be installed at the location of that hole.
The position seems quite right: just along the scaffolding of the floor which is now under construction.

that is my thinking as well ( even though i asked earlier if it was a crane ) - almost definitely a construction elevator

We got a little bit of this sense from those interior renders a couple months ago... but holy hell are those windows going to be gigantic. If you remember those shots -- maybe you'll agree -- I think there's something weirdly more impressive about those huge windows in the concrete frames than just a wall-to-wall glass curtain. Something monolithic.

Whatever you think about the exterior -- I didn't like many of the early renders, but I suspect it's going to surprise people when it's done -- the thing is going to be incredible from the inside.

This building could very well have a facade similar to Republic Plaza on the mile high mountains in Denver. The only difference, is 432 has windows increasing in size as the building ascends, and the materials used could end up being spectacular (billion dollars). But design is still uninspired.
