I guess it's better than no ties at all.

I prefer it to the trite bow on the embarcadero, its funky. And nothing is worse than that fountain jumble on the waterfront.

I think that statue could be pretty awesome. I agree that it has to be better than that bow. There has to be a bigger rendering somewhere.

Yeah, San Francisco wasn't weird at all before that statue, and was hugely influenced by Austin Texas throughout it's 150+ years of being a home for the odd and outliers of society.

What?! Austin influencing San Francisco?!?!

In fairness.... the Haight/Ashbury alone probably influenced the entire city of Austin.

My tongue was firmly in cheek.

Any news on this project? It's clear that we are getting bored with the lack of news.

^Who knows? The tower and transit center are separate, but related, projects. The site for the transit center is being prepped for construction, which should officially begin later this year. Building the tower is up to Hines, who bought development rights from the city. They will build it when they decide it makes economical sense for them to do so. When that will be is anybody's guess.

Personally, I'm much more excited about the new terminal than the tower. That's the more important project, IMO. In all honesty, I have to say that I'd probably be a little more enthusiastic about the tower had SOM's proposal been selected.
