Yea, and I would take a nice 5 story brick building in its place. I am pro-development, but I don't see how this project advances the area, more residents I guess?

Why can't this corner get a design similar to projects along the high-line or the handsome buildings going up in Northern Liberties, or those designed by Ambit? Certainly the ROI is there for even a B version of a High-Line project.

Happens all the time in other cities, just not in a prominent location like this.

Top Tomato is at 11th and Sansom now so maybe it is legit?

There is some construction equipment and digging happening on site. No signs of imminent demolition of the nearby buildings though.

The former Top Tomato location on Walnut Street has a cheap sign hanging up that says "Jeff's Tavern" and appears to still be operating. I'm wondering if maybe they're trying to squeeze some revenue out of the place before the building gets demolished.

they cleanout demo of 1107 walnut is happening now. I have no idea why there is a new sign on the old top tomato if the building is coming down, it looks 100% open to me and not close to shutting down.

L&I has slapped imminently dangerous signs on the two buildings that are to be demoed and guys were removing stuff from the upper levels of the building today so it appears full scale demo is happening soon. Would love to see the same at 11th and sansom.

Expired/expiring permits

Anyone hear any actual news on this project?

I noticed that, though the zoning permits specifying demolition are still active, the actual demolition permits for 1105 & 1107 Walnut expired last summer:
1105: https://eclipse.phila.gov/phillylmsp...ctId=191672896
1107: https://eclipse.phila.gov/phillylmsp...ctId=301970287

What's more, the building permit for the tower expires next week, according to eclipse:
https://eclipse.phila.gov/phillylmsp...ctId=386517902
Commercial Building Permit CP-2021-005737 (Issued)
Status: Issued
Application Date: Aug 31, 2021
Issue Date: Dec 15, 2021
Completed Date:
Expiration Date: Jun 28, 2022

Just walked by the site, where I saw workers and some equipment. It looks like they’re doing utility work. Let’s hope they’re sealing the sewage lateral, which is usually the precursor to new construction!

I saw a few guys on site the other day- they weren't doing much but I did see that some sort of work had taken place in front of the structures and there are some construction barriers blocking off a huge covered hole in the sidewalk where presumably some utilities were dug up.

If you saw them in my facebook group, the oldest pics are yesterday. The buildings are largely gone.
