my fear, as expressed by others, is that this current building cycle will be getting extremely long in the tooth by then, and that could potentially spell trouble for this project's viability.

if the developer had stated they anticipate groundbreaking in Q1 of 2021 or something like that, my fear would be lessened a bit.
With groundbreaking in 2022 the completion would probably be in 2025. Maybe there will be a downturn before the groundbreaking and they'll be targeting the next recovery by then. Also no other competition in 2025 that I know of on the high end yet!

I think I saw somewhere move-ins for the west tower are slated for Q4 2020

The glacial pace of some projects does remind one of his own mortality sometimes. (2 WTC...)

I guess we should count ourselves lucky. At least we're not waiting on the completion of some medieval cathedral...

See: Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota.

Projects like that are fascinating but they also reveal my 21st century expectations that everything happens at a fast pace. Sagrada Familia will allegedly be finished before 2030, but Crazy Horse aims to outlive me.

^ even closer to home, the bahai temple up in wilmette took 41 years to complete. started in 1912, finished in 1953.

I saw a guy wearing a Crazy Horse monument t-shirt and I thought to myself that is the closest anyone will ever see that thing complete. Sad but true.

Im confused with the east section. Is that gap in the middle going to get built up or is it going to be a pool deck type of deal?

From the photos posted in Crains last month, it looks like some sort of outdoor terrace. The pool is indoors behind the Tribune sign.

TWO MORE DAYS.

I'm really missing DNAinfo right now. There was a writer there that used to live tweet big meetings like this one.

Slide link will be posted on Alderman's website.

Height, mixed use nature has not changed. Just adjustments to base and top apparently. Rendering looked the same...

Edit: Confirmed same 1422ft. Can't believe they are talking about shadows wtf
