Does anyone know the status on these? The cement forms for the first floors of both buildings were poured months ago and there are construction fences around both lots. I drive by almost everyday and have not seen any workers on site since at least early summer.

901 E 6th is listed on the latest Emerging Projects poster as Osten Hall. ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/DowntownAu...er_2016_08.pdf

The description for Osten Hall says (emphasis mine): This project is a four-story mixed-use office building with retail and restaurant space and a robotic parking garage.

Robotic parking garage? I assume that means car elevators. I didn't see any car elevators included in the plans that Kevin linked to directly below Urbannizer's post. That might have been cool.

The Tyndall is a multi-family development located just east of I-35 atop Robertson Hill, the highest geographic point in downtown Austin. The development boasts exceptional views of the skyline and offers tenants easy access to the vibrant culture of East Austin. The thoughtfully created homes and living spaces are designed to allow individuals, families and friends feel comfortable, connected and cultured.

The true gem of the development is the 23,000 SF of common open space, centered on encouraging and preserving community. Common spaces at The Tyndall have been intentionally designed to promote a sense of community, while maintaining an element of personal privacy. Friends and neighbors can gather to grill under the iconic shade structure or retreat to the courtyard or grotto for relaxation and peace.

Our scope includes the design of an iconic shade structure, an expansive pool deck with views of downtown, outdoor kitchens, an intimate grotto area with a variety of seating and gathering options and a peaceful community courtyard with a fire pit and detailed landscape.

The Tyndall is currently under construction.

More office space for artists, designers, gamers and other creative types is coming to East Austin.

Central Austin Management Group, which developed a complex of artists’ studios and galleries in East Austin called Canopy, plans to break ground in July on Springdale General, a campus of 15 commercial buildings on Springdale Road, just up the street from Canopy.

East Austin's newest mixed-use development sets opening date

Quote:
While many Austin developments are just breaking ground, one is poised to open. Platform, a new mixed-use development in the East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard corridor, will open its leasing center and first apartments on Wednesday, October 5.

The development is located at East MLK between Miriam and Alexander avenues and features 355 apartments and townhomes. There's also 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space. Houndstooth Coffee will open its third Austin location at Platform, and to attract more local businesses, real estate developer Greystar is building out spaces to make them approachable for galleries, studios, boutiques, and creative offices.

Here's a rendering for that one from austintowers.net:

East Side Roundup

The Lofts at 12th Street consist of a 27-unit luxury condos in a five story building brought to bear by NAPA Ventures, a prototypical Texas real estate investment company. No details have been announced on the size or specs yet.
From the same article:

Quote:
A short jog south, from Lofts, the Eastline — developed by PSW Real Estate — will consist of 48 townhome style residences on an elevated courtyard above garage parking and 5,000 sq. ft. of first floor retail space. The project features 1-2 bed units, and in the neighborhood of 1,000+-square-feet. Prices points have not been released yet.

They look to be three stories, not five.

63 feet with 5 floors.
I think this is a revision of the hotel that was originally planned for E. Cesar Chavez. The original hotel was going to be 3 stories and 65 rooms, but the neighbors protested it and the Planning Commission nixed it, IIRC.

Plans for controversial East Austin hotel withdrawn

Quote:
The developers behind the controversial East Side Hotel proposed for East Cesar Chavez Street have withdrawn their appeal for a permit and plan to propose their project at another site, Council Member Sabino "Pio" Renteria's office said Friday.

John Donisi, an attorney for Brian and Bree Carrico, the couple who proposed the hotel, wasn't available for comment.

The proposal for a $19 million, 65-room hotel wasn't approved by the city's planning commission in June but was pending an appeal to City Council.

On Friday, Renteria met with the Carricos, who formally submitted a letter to withdraw the appeal, the council member's office said. The Carricos plan to come back with a proposal that better fits the East Cesar Chavez neighborhood plan, a Renteria spokesman said.
Back in June of 2015 (before the Planning Commission denied approval for the project) KXAN ran a story on it.

Video Link

At 0:32 in the story, they showed a couple of renderings of the original 3-story concept from Baldridge Architects.

I went over to Baldridge Architects website and found a page for an untitled hotel

Based on the elvations shown in Kevin's link and the renderings shown on Baldridge Architect's website, it appears to be the same project.

Renderings:

The man on the balcony in the below rendering appears to be looking west up Sixth Street because you can see The Austonian and the JW Marriott on his left and One American Center and the Omni Hotel on his right.

There's a couple of other interior renderings on that page as well.

I'm confused. There's too many "East Austin Hotels" to keep track of.

As far as parking garages go, I've seen worse and in more prime locations. That said, I feel your pain.
