There is no escaping the Coriolis effect.

The fact that it can bee seen is probably due to chemicals in the water that should be filtered out in time.

The water is flowing through quite a bit of new pipe and equipment and there could also be traces of chemicals from the waterproofing, stone and concrete tiles.

An increse in the flow of water, creating an increase in the speed of the water flowing to the center void well also decrese the lateral movement of the water due to the Coriolis effect.

I don't think the Corialis Effect (of the Earth's rotation) affects environments that small.

Regardless, it looks pretty cool. Maybe it's the result in testing different pressures along different walls.

No the Corialis Effect doesn't play a major role here. the depressions in the ground create wind vortices in the center of the pools. At times this will be visible. On another note, how would the Lower Manhattan-JFK rail link be serviced in the wtc if it were to be implemented in the future?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Um, the Coriolis effect only begins to have an effect on the scale of several hundred to thousands of miles.

That's to be expected, which is why I suggested everyone wait until the falls are fully operational before passing judement. But as expected, most won't.

Another arch section went up on the south side and lots of temporary steel went in last night.

After reading this page I went back and did some more reading, I was wrong, this changes everything. Yes, the The swirl that could be seen in the north pool was started by something in the design and shape of the pool that affected the flow of water. The Coriolis effect would not be perceptible in a square pool only 178 feet across.

I've been meaning to take one of the site drawings and high lite the full extent of the Transit Hub on it. (It's an octopus with tentacles reaching out to all sides and parts of the WTC site, and beyond.) Maybe your request well motivate me to do so. (Look for it later this week.)

This is for the Fulton Street Transit Center, but it shows the R will pretty much connect with the entrance to the WTC Transit Center (The W has since been canceled).

I'm not sure what the deal is with the 1 train though.

1 goes right through the site. It actually passes directly over the stairs that lead to the mezzanine

Some more serious steel appeared overnight...

Heading for complete arches soon perhaps.
