This is awesome news - couln't have asked for more really. I hope they start construction as soon as they can (despite what the city wants).

Latest update on this project:

Height has been increased to 188m (616ft) from 183m (600ft) - approved by City council Dec 15th. The floor count has jumped to 67 floors thanks to the increased height as well as decreasing the overall floor-to-floor height.

Action on site should recommence after the Olympics, so likely March/April. However conditional to the approved height increase, they must now excavate a bit deeper to add more parking.

So glad to see this tower nearing completion after so many years of waiting.

I like the new Vancouver Trump and it's light years ahead of the monstrosity he built in Toronto.

Trump didn't build either of these, he simply licenses his name to developers. So blame the developers in Toronto for not having a decent design vision. One can only blame Trump for his general douchiness. And his hair.

The Trump family was involved in the Vancouver one, Ivanka has been there a few times to oversee things.

^Trump has been involved with marketing etc. but the design was already completed before he came into the picture. It was originally supposed to be a Ritz-Carlton hotel but they pulled out...

This is a good looking tower but Vancouver is itching for a supertall.

Podium of Trump Tower Vancouver Nearing Completion

Quote:
Developed by The Trump Organization and Holborn Group, the tower portion of the development appears to be mostly complete when looking from street level, as we described in an earlier story. However, next to the lobby area, the podium section of the adjacent Terasen Gas building is still waiting on its granite cladding, as seen in the picture below. Indeed, the image shows missing grey-coloured blocks on the structure that received a glass penthouse type of addition as part of the Trump development. The wall facing the pedestrian plaza in front of the entrance that currently sits empty will soon be covered in a lush green wall.
