I noticed this morning that the apartments at 121 8th Street still aren't fenced in. Aren't they part of the 903 Peachtree project?

Do we have any decent renderings aside from the one or two we've seen?

Simon Property suspends construction on Phipps Plaza redevelopment

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...source=twitter
Quote:
Simon Property Group has suspended construction at its redevelopment of Phipps Plaza in Buckhead, a cost-savings move that comes as the coronavirus pandemic leaves much of the U.S. retail sector reeling.

The project could restart later this spring, depending on the effort to slow new cases of coronavirus and COVID-19, the severe respiratory disease it causes, a source with knowledge of the potential construction schedule told Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The project was expected to open in phases beginning in the first or second quarter of 2021, but that was before the emergence of the novel coronavirus late last year and the deepening U.S. economic crisis. Georgia had more than 10,500 cases of the illness as of Thursday afternoon, with over 2,100 hospitalized and 379 deaths, according to the state Department of Public Health.

The decision to suspend construction may reflect Simon Property’s relatively unique position versus other developers in Atlanta. Simon Property is funding the redevelopment of Phipps Plaza with its own capital.

Is the Phipps Plaza office building the only office building being built (or stalled as of now) since the Buckhead skyline added the building with the "pop out" windows facade on Lenox?

With this announcement, it appears Buckhead's "CBD" office market is taking a bigger hit than Midtown, which currently have a slew of office building under construction at the moment.

So what now? Is this just going to sit idle for years and rot? I am sure the neighbors are not happy...

Central Library renovation
I walked to downtown last weekend to see the bastardization of this building in person. So unnecessary and unfortunate.

There are no other office projects under construction in Buckhead but there are a few more office proposals. Suspending construction has been what I've feared could happen. Hopefully this will be the only project in the city that has already started to halt construction.

I think there's one in the Buckhead Village but I'm not sure how far along they got before the collapse set in.
