Ah ok, I always think of a waterfront as being whatever borders a city's downtown.

Next time I'm in Houston I'd like to check out the bayou and Sam Houston Park. You guys have some nice downtown parks.

Buffalo Bayou. The bayou continues on southeast of the city and later becomes part of the Houston ship channel.

Hmm, i dont know its just hard for me to consider Buffalo Bayou as a water front. To me its a like a river. I guess after living in Seattle i am use to a water front being one like theirs. Thanxs for sharing...

I agree. I've lived around the Houston area for most of my life and I can't think of anyone who's considered any of the bayous containing or acting as a waterfront in the traditional sense. I also agree with Trae's assesment though, especially if Endeavour can get the ball rolling with their proposals.

The first tower seems to have done well sales-wise, so there is some hope. Parkside and their Offatts project in Galveston will be upcoming in the next year. I want to see what they have planned for Poretto Beach though since I'd heard that was planned for construction in 2009 at earliest (IIRC)

Another rendering of Endeavour Parkside, where the site is currently being cleared.

I just spoke with someone at Endeavour Holdings and they said that Westin has already been signed as the hotel partner and construction is supposed to begin in the middle of the 2nd Quarter of '08. The rough location is just west of SH 146, and east of the large Endeavour Marina.

Done, I updated the map based on the rough area I was told. It's the closest to the intersection of 146 & Nasa Road 1 (528)

"Some news about the University of Houston (Main Campus):

Living Large
Contemporary loft apartments near a major university are hard to come by in any city. Soon, the University of Houston will offer graduate and professional students a place to call home in perfect proximity to their classes.

The construction of UH’s graduate and professional lofts on Calhoun Road is the first major project in coordination with the campus master plan. The 552,000-square-foot facility will house more than 700 loft apartments and 10,000 square feet of ground-level retail space.

Located on campus near the UH Law Center and the C.T. Bauer College of Business, these competitively priced apartments will offer students new levels of comfort and convenience.

“This facility will be the university’s first campus housing designed exclusively for graduate and professional students, which is appropriate since UH’s enrollment has the highest proportion of graduate students of any university in the state,” says Dr. Elwyn Lee, vice president for student affairs."

Here's links to the full master plan:

UH Master Plan, which has already begun

Finally, we are figuring out how awesome the campus can be, with its close proximity to downtown and the Med Center, and so much else going on. MetroRail will also be extended to the campus via the University Line by 2010.

Two of three Starwood projects in West Houston now appear to be in full swing. The rennovation of the old Radisson at the corner of Beltway 8 & the Katy Freeway is in progress, and when complete it will be a Four Points by Sheraton hotel to compliment the CityCentre project under construction.

There is now a crane up at Memorial City's "Gateway" site, adjacent to the corporate building they're building adjacent to the hospital. It is for the Westin Hotel & Residences planned there. 250 Rooms & 65 Residential suites will be included.

There's also a Sheraton planned for a space around Baseball USA (Beltway 8 near Kempwood Dr) though I haven't heard much on that as of late.

Here's the link to their site.

I was a bit premature in saying the Sheraton out that way was undetermined. It's actually under construction. Right across from the Westway Park office complex, and it seems kinda away from the baseball place just from what I saw. At least it's a free exit off the beltway from the south.

Both the Sheraton & the Four Points near City Centre have websites. Kinda surprised the Westin doesn't though.

An updated rendering recently posted on the developer's website of the High Street Houston project with the proposed Highland Tower in the background.

If you're not familiar with the location, it would be along Westheimer and just east of 610. It would also be adjacent to the River Oaks District project as well.

There are a few more in the gallery section as well.

Hey, Wattleigh, might I make a suggestion for your google map of Houston projects?

I would include the remodeling of Northline Mall if for no other reason than it will have a significant impact on the north extension of the Red Line.

Other than that, good job!

It's added now. There's supposed to be a stop there along the line at or around the mall, correct?

Yes, on the NE corner of the property, pretty much where the existing transit center is.
