Your photos are constantly amazing and much appreciated.

For some campers, this is the last year they'll be able to camp in the area under the I-35 and I-37 bridges near the Pearl and downtown.
More Fiesta Headlines

Art Reinhardt, assistant director of the Department of Transportation and Capital Improvements, explained why the city decided to move forward with a landscaping beautification project.
First off, not a big deal, but that's a pretty fun and funky fiesta tradition, it will be missed.

But, more importantly, does anyone here know anything about this project? I'd heard it alluded to elsewhere, but this is the first I've seen that there is an actual funded plan to do any beautification/landscaping under that underpass.

215 N San Saba

Does anyone know what is happening to the building at 215 N San Saba? It located next to the Children's Hospital of San Antonio (formerly Santa Rosa). It's being completely gutted and currently having an additional floor added to the top level. I'm assuming something to do with medical, but honestly have no idea. I can't find any info about it online. Thoughts?

I could be wrong, but for some reason I feel like I remember them doing this to this building several years back. Put up all the structure that appeared to be another floor addition and then they took all down and nothing happen.

GrayStreet is currently under contract for the 3.13-acre portfolio, which includes the five-story 1930s building at 420 Broadway, adjacent parking lot and former press room building, as well as the 300-block of North Alamo.
GrayStreet keeps snapping up downtown and midtown properties right and left. Hopefully they'll make some of their development plans public soon.

Isn't the 300 block of N Alamo the Express-News building? Did GrayStreet just buy the Light building and the Express building from Hearst? Those are two beautiful buildings!

A google maps search of 300 N Alamo yields a surprising result:

I believe they mean the two old houses and the parking lot across from the Express News building. So the total purchase would be the entire Light block plus half of a block just south of there.

No surprise that this reporter bungled the details of another transaction... From what I understand, it's not the Express News building, but it is the Light Building and the parcel immediately on the other side of 4th St. But the parcel across the street is not the "full city block". It's the piece not fronting Broadway. Hearst also owns the Express News building, but I don't think that was part of the sale.

The sale would indeed not include the Express-News building. It includes the mustard-yellow Light building and the adjacent parking lot as well as about half of the block to the southwest, where there are two parking lots and two historic buildings.

This isn't related to anything relevant on the forum, but I thought I'd share this ridiculous article from the business journal:

Quote:
Bypassing downtown, PricewaterhouseCoopers opens North Central San Antonio office
http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantoni...532&j=73133002

When it was looking for new office space in San Antonio to reestablish its presence in the city, PricewaterhouseCoopers wanted something convenient that was surrounded by millennial-friendly amenities and had a professional atmosphere.

Needless to say, it did not choose an office downtown.

"We selected the area because, for us, the people we hire are millennials," Duffey said, adding that half of the firm's 20 San Antonio employees — a number expected to double or triple in the next three years — are less than 30 years old. "We wanted to be in close proximity to the Pearl, since with our new employees starting up, many of them are looking at Lower Broadway to relocate and live."
Do they own a map? They know the Pearl is downtown, right?
