And now this Houston building... that's of cash floating about.

BHP's registered office for the ASX listed entity (BHP Billiton Ltd) is in Melbourne but the office which really is only head-office functions like Finance, Marketing and the CEO's office pales in comparison to the size of the offices in Perth & Brisbane where they're closer to all the mines.

They're heavily decentralised with a lot of their technology work done out of Singapore - Pretroleum in Houston and of course the LSE Entity (BHP Billiton Plc) office in London.
How big is Houston, it has a good skyline for a non major American city, I wish our secondary cities had skylines like American secondary cities

I don't think you have "secondary" cities as large as Houston in Great Britain... Houston metro is over 6 million people!

It's the U.S.'s 4th largest city. It's very major for this country. Huge port, petrochemical industry, international population. Wikipedia would be a pretty good source of info, although I've found some things in Wikipedia's article that aren't quite correct.

By the way, the "skyline" shown in this thread is Uptown, which is a satellite skyline. The downtown skyline is about 6 miles from Uptown, and is one of the largest in the U.S..

London of course is phenomenal. My Dad lived there for a while when overseeing North Sea rig construction. He lived a couple of blocks from Albert Hall in a great area. I visited and wish I could go back!

Please visit, and visit us up in Austin, too! British Airways will start non-stop service between Austin and London in the spring.

The cool thing about houston is it has multiple business districts that would put a lot of cities to shame (including my home cities CBD).

If you put every skyscraper in Houston into one CBD, it would be a pretty incredible skyline.

This picture actually gives a good perspective. You can see the large quantities of skyscrapers all over Houston. It is much larger than most "secondary" cities of any country.

Looks like they have two crane bases onsite. Can't wait for those to go up.

Is there a larger version of that? Anyone know where that was taken?

Must have been taken somewhere south-east of the city. For another really good view of our cbd's, take the ramp from Westpark Tollway to 59-N.

Just got this in an email.

"To: Four Oaks Place Tenants
From: Four Oaks Place Management Office
Date: December 20, 2013

Subject: Closing of Four Oaks Place Drive

On Friday January 3rd through Monday January 6th, D.E. Harvey will be assembling the crane for the Tower Five construction site. During this time, it will be necessary to close Four Oaks Place Drive. Entry to Four Oaks Place from Post Oak Boulevard will remain open. On the west end of Four Oaks Place Drive, the traffic flow will be one-way only, to allow exiting onto Post Oak Lane. To prevent any confusion during this process, D.E. Harvey will have signage installed throughout the complex and Houston Police officers will be directing traffic."

That sure looks like somewhere between Pasadena and Clear Lake.
