Mishorim and Israel Land planning NIS 1b Toronto skyscraper
Skyline International Development plans to float on London's AIM.
Globes' correspondent 10 Dec 07 15:25

Israel Land Development Company (TASE: ILDC) amd Mishorim Development Ltd.'s (TASE:MSHR) Canadian real estate subsidiary Skyline International Development Inc. have bought a lot in downtown Toronto from the property's receiver for C$24.1 million (NIS 92 million). The lot is occupied by a parking lot, and Skyline plans to develop a 41,750-square meter 55-storey office, hotel, and residential skyscraper on the lot. The company also plans to apply to add 5,000-10,000 square meters in building rights.

Israel Land estimates the cost of construction, not including financing expenses, at C$138 million (NIS 527 million) and predicts a profit of $115 million (NIS 440 million) on C$253 million (NIS 967 million) proceeds.

Israel Land owns 30% of Skyline and Mishorim, controlled by president Gil Blutich, owns 66.8%. Skyline plans to hold an IPO on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) on the basis of a company value of 209 million Canadian dollars made by Grant Thornton Canada LLP.

It’s really pathetic isn’t it? When I moved to Toronto 25 years ago, the TTC was the envy of the world and politicians and activists were slapping themselves on the back for stopping the Spadina expressway. Mass transit was to be the way of the future and Toronto was going to show the world the way. Well here we are twenty five years later and the only significant mass transit addition is the Sheppard subway line, “the line to nowhere”. The only thing the Sheppard line does is add to the already overloaded Yonge subway. What’s up with the great minds in this city??? The subway lines were already overcrowded with no relief in sight and now they have approved some 37,000 condo units in the core and still no mass transit improvements now or even on the horizon. I won’t dwell on this as it speaks for itself, but there are some major problems forthcoming.

they're always so ugly when they're under construction.

That's the most fun for people here. That's why skyscraperpage created the "Development" sub-forum.

Love this tower... my favourite in the Top 15 Proposals category.

Does anyone know the staus of Shangri-la? It was approved June 2006, but no word since. Sounds kinda Sapphireish.

You might want to do your homework before making cracks like that (Sapphire)... Shang reached the traditional green light level of sales in record time and the only thing stalling official u/c status is a historical "dig" and a "historical" building on site that is being shored up to withstand construction.

It is a very successful building and probably 90% sold... u/c status is a month or 2 away.
