LA's Crenshaw line is looking very iffy for September and maybe even for 2021. During this week's construction update the project managers expressed increasing frustration with the contractors tasked with completing and testing the electrical and communication equipment in the underground stations. The short story is that they need at least 5 months of testing after that work is complete and they don't think that it will be completed by April. The contractor tasked with testing the equipment has been waiting months for installation to be completed and the contractor that's supposed to complete installation has not committed the necessary resources to complete it.

Fencing has gone up around the launch shaft for the Scarborough Subway Extension at the northeast corner of Sheppard Avenue East and McCowan Road.

https://blog.metrolinx.com/2021/02/1...oving-forward/

Utility Relocations are ongoing and full scale construction of the tunnel launch shaft will begin in a month or two.

Toronto Scarborough Subway Extension - 4.7 miles (7.5 km)

The line will replace the failing Scarborough Rapid Transit Line, an ICTS mid-capacity system that has reached end of life (Same technology as the Vancouver Skytrain). It will feature 3 stops over the 7.5km, one at Lawrence Avenue, one at Scarborough Town Centre, and one at Sheppard Avenue.

http://www.metrolinx.com/en/greaterr...%20Scarborough.

This is one of four subway extensions expected to start construction in Toronto over the next 2 years or so.

I hope the bloor line will continue to go north in the future and the sheppard line will continues to go east and ends up at the Zoo
So many wonderful projects in all major cities across the country, Quebec city seems to be the one always out of step, it's not building highrises like crazy and not building transit projects either.

So here is some station excavation for the Broadway Subway Project in Vancouver. Would this be considered an active project now for this list?

My internet browsing time has been really infrequent and difficult during COVID. Hopefully when things are back to normal I can be a regular again.

In the meantime, I updated what seems relevant. Please let me know what should change. I added:
  • Chicago commuter rail South Shore Line West lake extension - 8 miles
  • Toronto Scarborough subway extension - 5 miles (8 km)
  • Vancouver Broadway subway - 4 miles (6 km)
None of the projects Tcmetro listed in terms of 2021 openings appear to be open yet.

Wow, they're finally thinking of making the Sheppard line relevant. Eager to see that!

The sheppard expansion is on Metrolinks to-do list, but it not currently a funded project. basically the Sheppard line and scarborough expansion will meet and you could make the Sheppard line part of the bloor-Danforth line,

The Bloomington GO line extension opens June 28 in Tororonto. It's quickly earning the nickname "The Garage-Mahal". This station will likely see about a thousand daily passengers, and will be serviced by about 6 trains in each morning and evening rush hour.

This is just a stupid "shower thought" about transit in Dallas Fort Worth, but go with it:

What if the DART Silver Line and Tex Rail integrated to some extent, where some silver trains don't go to DFW but rather down to Fort Worth? All they need to do is refresh the one leg of the wye junction where the airport branch comes off what had been the old cotton belt line and then trains from Plano could go straight instead of turning. And on the subject of that, what about a connection to any of them with the A-train? It ends a few miles away with a forced transfer to light rail and has abysmal ridership. If it ran just a little further it could join with the Silver Line corridor and get to DFW airport (or maybe to Plano?).

The other thought, could TRE use the extension of TexRail to the Baylor Scott and White medical center in south Fort Worth?

Through-running of silver line trains has been discussed and would be possible. No further details have been said.

TRE is not in tended TEXRail extension.

The other idea might be to turn Carrollton into a hub. TexRail could continue past DFW and A-train could continue past Trinity Mills and they could meet DART Green and Silver.

First trolley rolls onto Mid-Coast Extension as SANDAG, MTS test new track

June 29, 2021

"SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Transportation leaders and transit advocates from around the region gathered Tuesday to witness the first trolley on the Mid-Coast Extension of the UC San Diego Blue Line.

The milestone signifies that train testing is beginning and that the San Diego Association of Governments is officially transferring responsibility to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System for operations.

“This is an important day,” said Nathan Fletcher, MTS board chair and San Diego County supervisor. “We get the keys to Mid-Coast and it’s all- systems-go for testing our trolleys on the tracks..."
