Aerolíneas Argentinas places order for four A330-200s

Aerolíneas Argentinas has signed a purchase agreement for four Airbus A330-200s to renew and consolidate their widebody fleet. Aerolíneas Argentinas will announce the engine selection at a later date.
Argentina’s flagship carrier will deploy the new A330 aircraft for medium and long haul routes from their Buenos Aires hub to destinations throughout Latin America, Europe and the United States. The airline currently operates eight A340-300s, four A340-200s and four A330s.
“Because we are committed to offer our customers the best service possible, we have added four A330-200s to our fleet,” said Mariano Recalde, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas. “This wide-body aircraft provides the latest innovation, modern interior design and onboard entertainment, while allowing us to significantly improve our fleet’s operational and economic efficiencies. We are very proud of this decision, which makes our relationship with Airbus stronger than ever.”
“We applaud Aerolíneas Argentinas’ for renewing their fleet based on the successful A330 Family. This exceptional aircraft is part of the best-selling wide body program that features a unique combination of unbeatable economics, versatility and fuel efficiency, said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Airbus is consistently investing in the development of the A330 Family to ensure its continued leadership in reliability and operating economics.”

Aerolineas Argentinas Launches an In-Flight Wireless Revolution with Panasonic Avionics

Aerolineas Argentinas, the national airline of Argentina, will revolutionize air travel for its customers as the first Latin American airline to introduce wireless in-flight entertainment, provided by Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) through its eXW wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.

Passengers will be able to connect to content on board the aircraft via their Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, tablets, smartphones or other devices and enjoy movies, music and in-flight service such as ordering meals.

The system is being linefit on eight Boeing 737-800s being delivered to Aerolineas Argentinas from later this year. It will be deployed on domestic flights and mid-range destinations such as those in Brazil, Peru and Chile.

Yes, and December 2013 retake the route, it is possible that the frequency increases, the strange thing is that when United leaves the route was profitable in theory

Mismanagement of the airline

http://www.clarin.com/politica/Aerol...243076031.html

Air New Zealand to Fly Direct to Argentina

Air New Zealand has today announced it will launch direct flights between Auckland and Buenos Aires, Argentina - the airline’s first ever scheduled service to South America.

An Air New Zealand Boeing 777-200 aircraft will operate three return services a week on the route all year round.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says the new destination, the airline’s 28th international port, opens up an exciting new world for travellers from both New Zealand and Australia.

“South America was once the domain of the intrepid explorer, but the direct service to Buenos Aires, with a flight time of around 12 hours, means a quick and action packed getaway is now a reality.

“Buenos Aires is the most popular tourist city in South America and is a perfect stepping stone for those who then want to explore the country, or continent, further.”

“We’ve been very clear about our aspirations for growth in the Pacific Rim. Our flights to Singapore commence next month and this new route to Buenos Aires further strengthens our network in the Pacific Rim. Argentina is an exciting new destination for New Zealanders, and with seamless one-stop connectivity through Auckland it will provide a fantastic opportunity for Australians as well.”

The service will also enable Argentineans to travel directly to New Zealand and then on to Australia on Air New Zealand’s extensive trans-Tasman network, or to Singapore and South East Asia.

Air New Zealand will enter into a code share agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas, subject to obtaining regulatory approvals, which will see Aerolíneas Argentinas’ code return to the South Pacific market on the new route and on key connecting Trans-Tasman services, and Air New Zealand will code share on Aerolíneas Argentinas’ services to Brazil.

“We are particularly excited that Aerolíneas Argentinas has agreed to support the service with code share, which we expect to help further stimulate tourism to New Zealand from this rugby loving nation,” says Mr Luxon.

Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive Kevin Bowler says the announcement is welcome news, at a time when the organisation has made a commitment to significantly invest in the Latin American market, including the establishment of an office in South America, one year ago this month.

“We’ve made some great progress in laying the foundations, but our success in attracting more South American visitors to New Zealand relies heavily on air linkages and we look forward to working in a partnership with Air New Zealand in the coming months to build in-bound demand for the new service.”

The new Buenos Aires service was announced today at an Argentinian themed breakfast at Air New Zealand’s Auckland headquarters.

Flights will commence in December 2015, with tickets on sale in March, subject to obtaining necessary approvals.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has signed a codeshare agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas, one of South America’s leading airlines.

Effective 1 February 2015, the agreement will offer Etihad Airways’ guests greater access to South America via Aerolíneas Argentinas’ Buenos Aires hub.

As part of the agreement, Etihad Airways will place its ‘EY’ flight code on Aerolíneas Argentinas’ operated flights across the Argentinian airline’s extensive domestic network, as well as to key destinations in South America including Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay.

Guests will be able to travel on Etihad Airways’ marketed flights to Buenos Aires and from there to 20 popular destinations in South America including: Asuncion, Bariloche, Bahia Blanca, Comodoro Rivadavia, Cordoba, El Calafate, Iguazú, Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Montevideo, Neuquén, Rio Gallegos, Rio Grande, Rosario, Salta, San Juan, Santiago de Chile, Trelew, Tucuman and Ushuaia.

Flights under the codeshare agreement can be booked from mid-January 2015 via travel agents or through the airlines’ sales offices and contact centres.

Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said: “Codeshares are a fundamental pillar of Etihad Airways’ strategy and our new commercial partnership with Aerolíneas Argentinas is a significant development for both airlines. We are now able to enhance our business and leisure travel offering between the UAE, Argentina and onwards to the strategically important South American market.”

Aerolineas Argentinas’ President and CEO, Mariano Recalde, said: “We are delighted to sign this agreement with Etihad Airways, which offers its passengers enhanced connectivity within Argentina and the Southern Cone of the Americas, through the extensive Aerolineas network.”In June 2013, Etihad Airways launched non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi and São Paulo, the airline’s first destination in South America. The flights currently offer 3,360 seats per week between the two cities and connect to 31 destinations across North Africa, the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Subcontinent and Asia.
