Thanks for the comments!

The 3rd section is now complete. Here's an aerial looking northwest:

The buildings look great!
Your highway turnoffs are neat!
I have no idea how to do things like that!

This is such a beautifully epic, realistic city, maybe you can update Rocane with textures like that. I cannot find good enough textures in Bing, OR Google maps.

How do you get your textures?

Thanks but I think Rocane will stay in the past. I'm already thinking of a new city, so I probably won't return to my older cities.

The textures are from Bing Maps bird's eye views. I've tried to use cities wich have the better quality images. It's also important to extract the facade from the sunny side, which has the better contrast. In the street level shots I've used textures made of Google Maps street view shots and recently I've also started to use CG Textures textures, but they're only good for ground level shots, not aerials (because most of the windows in the textures reflect sky, not the ground).

That is a very nice scene. I wonder what Bourne would look like at night.

I am going to switch Lakeports textures to use photorealistic textures.

I have tried using captured Google Maps images for the streets, and the textures don't line up properly. I will try to use bing maps, but i think the textures would still be slightly skewed.

What city do you get your road textures from?

I actually did a night scene with the previous version of Bourne. It's on page 3:

All the road and ground textures are made of Google Maps images. They all required more or less work in Photoshop to get everything straight, although nowhere near as much work as building facade textures

Here's an update:

I like,

Instead of using photorealistic roads for my city, i am going to use these textures.

I want to build modern buildings in lakeport, but i want the city to have an evolving timeline.

It might have come the time to say goodbye to Bourne. I'm finally getting a new computer soon, and once I get it, I probably want to start a new city. So here's possibly the last update...

Please keep working on Bourne, it is one of my favorite cities.

If you do work on a new city, please upload Bourne to the 3DWH, in sections.
Many people would really love to use these textures, and i would be able to satisfy my creativity.
The collection of textures i have is decent, but i only like to use one texture per building, and my cities, like lakeport, will use hundreds, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of unique modular buildings that can be placed in other cities, or easily moved to other locations. Photorealistic textures are good, high detail is great, high detail photo-textured is the best. Also i really like highway ramps, but i have difficulty merging ramps. How do you merge them?

Here is example of modular buildings, each building is its own group, and can be rearranged to create dense urban blocks. I will be slowly creating a new, more detailed version as i build lakeports low rise buildings.

Also you should try my road pack, which is built in 15ft x 60ft sections, except the bike lanes, which are 7.5ft x 60ft.

Well, if the new city is better then Bourne, then go ahead!
By the way, I don't like that rusty box building! There are too many of these wasteful and uncreative buildings in real life! No need to make fictional ones!

Vellu, my hat off to you. Your creativity and realism through SketchUp unrivals most, if not all. I'd say you were one of those that really inspired me to keep working knowing that someone would appreciate the dedication.

Good luck with your next city and hopefully Bourne can live on here.

Cool city! Are you going to continue updating? And if not, will you start a new city?

Thanks for the comments, everybody! I'm here to announce that Bourne is indeed discontinued, as I am working on a new city.

I've uploaded Bourne to the 3D Warehouse, so check out the model "City of Bourne" if you want to take a closer look.

Well, I think worked on it for almost six years, on and off. That included one restart and a couple of longer breaks
