It's been a few years but if I recall correctly this will have several floors of underground parking that will need to be excavated before they are ready for a crane. If there are crane parts there than the site is most likely being used as a staging area for the 5th and West crane.

I saw that too this evening. I'm wondering though if It's Just being stored there and it's really the crane pieces for 5th @ West since we've heard that the crane will be going up this weekend. I'd be pleasantly surprised if it really is for ZaZa.

I think the used this lot to stage the crane for Aloft also. And why not, it isn't being used for anything else at the moment

They started working on the site again yesterday, and they moved more equipment in today. No headlines yet, but I'm assuming we will see something today or early next week.

They've actually started digging. Hopefully this isn't another false start and construction is beginning in earnest.

The good news is it does seem to be moving forward. Does anyone know how far they are digging?

On their website, the ZaZa people have revised the delivery date to 2018.

They would have to dig down a bit to lay a good foundation for a surface parking lot, right?

Since the website says 2018 now, I think its a go, it was just a really slow start, but will be glad to see it go up.

Drove by last night and was pleased to note new porta-potties, two or three pieces of earth moving equipment, and a rather substantial hole in the ground. Things are looking promising. I hate getting excited only to face additional disappointment, but maybe this time it is for real.

TheCruiser (shaggytexas) just said this today about ZaZa:

Quote:
They fucked up a lot of stuff between the groundlease and securing the construction loan. But yeah-it's full steam ahead for them. I'm sure some of their permits expired in the interim though, hope somebody's looking into that since they seem to miss all kinds of red flags along the way. It's created a real bottleneck there on 3rd street too with the fencing/lane closures.

I've switched back to *hopeful* for this one. If it gets built, I'll be thrilled.

I don't understand why you're "hopeful". There is plenty of very active equipment on site which has already dug a very big hole in the ground. They also brought in a new construction trailer. This project is well underway. Clearly.
