A band from Cincinnati, but the video was filmed in Austin fo sho. That's the Avenue Lofts on East 5th Street in the background there.

A music video that was filmed in downtown Austin sometime in the late 70s. The album came out in 1979.

These guys are from Laredo, but they did their last album in Austin, Louisville and Nashville. Austin's skyline shows up at one point in the video.

The English band Viola Beach that was killed in Sweden yesterday was scheduled for SXSW this year.

Whoa! I had heard about this a few days ago, but had no idea this song was from this band. It had floated toward the top of my SXSW "must-see" playlist over the last month. Tragic event.

ACL is opening a second venue off of 2nd St. I'm guessing it's not the Urban Outfitter location but whatever was on the other end of the block.

^ Very cool. I'm glad to see a venue going in rather than going away. Intimate venues like that also provide an entirely different setting than the huge rooms or massive outdoor venues...you get up close and personal with the artists and it's often a better setting for acoustic sets. I'm glad to see this happen.

In 1962, on the UT campus, this famous singer was voted the ugliest man on campus. Any guesses?
