The truss that's in place in the first photo spans 120ft and will help support the weight of the upper Ballroom on level 5. There is another set of trusses at level 7 that support the outside amenity area including the swimming pool.
Looks like the curtainwall installer has been quite busy the past couple weeks.
Interesting that the glass panes are different widths. I wonder if its for aesthetics or some sort of function, like view from the room layout? Either way, it looks nice.
It's another one of those open patches in the city where a good sized building can completely change the feeling of the skyline. I drive past this construction everyday and increasingly think it's going to be the anchor for a completely new district. IMHO, a lot more development will follow.
The different glass widths are purely aesthetic. The wide panes (2 per typical room) are what a guest will look out of from their room. The three narrow panes will be covered on the inside with a gypsum board assembly. It doesn't show well in these cloudy day images but the three narrow panes are 2 colors. The darker stripe of the colors changes location within the the groups of three. I believe Gensler was trying to break up what will be huge glass walls with a bit of interest and rhythm. It looked good on the drawings anyway.
I was wondering the same thing. I think I see it at the bottom left point of the triangular pivot point, just on the other side of the boom, so it's hidden. If that's not it, I have no idea.
