I know that the Fulton Center is scheduled to open on June 26th, but are you saying that the Dey Street Concourse will open at the same time? I remember hearing some talk a few years ago (when the head-house opened) that it wasn't worth opening the concourse until the WTC Transportation Hub was completed. However, I was under the impression that the concourse would be an essential component of the Fulton Center, with or without the WTC Transportation Hub connected to it.

That's a good question and, unfortunately, I don't have an answer

Any retail in or around Tower 4 at the WTC will open once it is completed (Dey street, except for the side closest to Tower 3.) The rest of the retail located at the WTC will open along with the Transit Hub as most of it is located under the hub. The only exception with that is the recently opened East/West Concourse connecting to WFC. On a side note, the PATH Hall at the Transit Hub should be opening this summer.

Transit Hub and Work on No. 7 Line Face Delays

Transit Hub and Work on No. 7 Line Face Delays

By BENJAMIN MUELLER JUNE 23, 2014

Quote:
Two of the biggest transit projects in New York City are poised to miss approaching deadlines, the latest in a string of delays involving Metropolitan Transportation Authority capital projects.

The soaring Fulton Street Transit Center, which commuters in Lower Manhattan have been counting on to untangle the knot of subway lines that converge east of the World Trade Center, was supposed to open on Thursday. But that has been pushed back 60 to 90 days because of testing delays and unfinished elevators, transit officials said on Monday during an authority board meeting.

Advertisements are now running in the Subway - I found this one on an uptown E train. Sorry for the phone quality picture.

I still don't get why they painted all the steel black on the outside of the building. It looks like a black iron rod fence or something out of the 70s.

agree...I don't think it looks horrible with the black steel, but it would have looked much better if silver in color

Thnks.

Does "open to the public" mean that it is fully open to the public internally, with all passageways, escalators, stairs, etc. open?l

PS: I assume that the Dey Street passageway is not open.

To be honest I'm not sure. I didn't have time to go inside, but the doors seen in the picture were open and regular people, not construction workers, were entering

Thanks: I was wondering because I remember talk about staged openings of various features. Something to check out the next time I visit.

The exterior is finished but the hub is still under construction. Once inside there are stairs taking you to the trains, that's about it; escalators aren't even working yet.

Yup. You walk down a nice looking staircase surrounded by plywood boards and the smell of paint. It's pretty much a mess at the moment and calling it 'open' is a bit of a stretch.

Amazing really. At this point, I don't want to get begin with the #7 subway extension with these types of "workers".

It looks cold and uninviting....

What happened to the silver walls/facade and the flashy signs?
