correct.

curbed NY
The new base of the World Trade Center kind of looks like our Borg Cube (Federal Court House) building in Salt Lake City.

Wow. Unbelievable. This and the rendering you posted in the thread for 2 WTC are just fantastic. Hope to see more over the coming weeks. Can't thank you enough.

I have read in numerous sources that the rooftop promenade observatory on the south tower was 1,377 feet above sea level so I assume that meant 1,367 feet above street level.

That's basically what this building is gonna look like now without the nice spire it had.

Downtown has better "canyons" than midtown in my opinion.

Looking at these two pictures, this is probably one of the few buildings that actually look like the rendering. All credits to the owner of the top picture, these are not mine. Again all credits to-NYGuy
I think the previous base would have been much more interesting--the rendering looks boring on the bottom and I'm not fond of the upside down pin cushion on the top either. If they continue to screw around with the spire, you're going to end up with an antenna and leave Chicago as the reigning city with the tallest building in the US. To me, Sears/Willis is the king anyway since I'm tired of "sticks" on top of buildings being counted towards official height. While spires can be very interesting (and NYC, you've done a great job there in midtown), they get skinner and skimpier, like the excuse on top of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.

All the same, it's been thrilling to see NYC make such a dramatic comeback. I love all of the WTC development, though WTC 1 is my least favorite. WTC 4's glass and simplicity is stunning, 7 is beautiful, 2 is my favorite and 3 will be kick ass too! Opening the street grid more is also a dramatic improvement over the original WTC complex.

Doesn't seem as tall as it used to without the spire.

This building needs the enclosure.

The spire was crucial, but towers 2 and 3 will make the skyline look better.

^^^
Those are some good renderings but hopefully they could compromise on a new enclosure for the spire or the original.
