Washington County has eliminated homeless encampments

Washington County leaders say they have achieved what many communities throughout the country are working to do: eliminate homeless encampments.

Using their share of the tri-county area’s Metro homelessness services tax, intended to fund supportive housing, shelter, eviction prevention and behavioral health care, they built a homelessness services system from the ground up.

Which goes to show that it is possible to do and there is no excuse for Multnomah County why they aren't also doing this.

Maybe they should combine brainpower, have the think-tanks for Washington County put in charge all of the homeless services for Metro and get this improved for once.

Portland-area In-N-Out Burger back from the dead

Don’t count jumping on TriMet to get a Double Double out just yet. An application by In-N-Out Burger that was denied in 2022 has been approved conditionally by Washington County.

While many in the neighborhood are concerned about the traffic a new In-N-Out would cause, the application was originally denied on a zoning issue – the area that In-N-Out hoped to develop was partially located on land where a drive-thru is not allowed.

Nike to lay off 740 employees at world headquarters in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nike plans to lay off 740 employees at its world headquarters in Beaverton by June 28, according to a notice the footwear and apparel giant sent to state officials. The company has about 83,000 employees worldwide, including more than 11,000 at its Beaverton headquarters as of last spring, the Oregonian reported.
