Dear god that’s tacky! Reminds me of these “rococo beds” that went up for auction as while back.

What makes this even worse is the fact that it was originally built as an elegant mid-century modern office building before it was reclad sometime in the early 2000s.

^That's how that Venetian-esque seniors home in Regina started as well. Mid-century office/industrial and then they did, I won't post it again here.

I didn't know that... any before pictures?

It is bloody hard to find a picture of the Clarion in its pre-recladding state, but here's what I was able to dig up:

Holy shit, that’s downright criminal, puts the Clarion into Winnipeg’s hall of infamy for me.

And that puts it in the nationwide hall of infamy for me, it was already in my personal top twenty worst in Canada. Now it’s in my top ten .

It appears to have been sold but I could find this pic of the exterior, it’s in BearsPaw.

This is so horrific. My only solace is that they (the property owner) never got the chance to build balls on either side of the Calgary tower. Probably the only good thing to come from this recession.

Yes it most certainly is, the Ontario equivalent is Brampton.

I already wasn’t the biggest One Paliser fan but I could see the appeal, this is horrendous.

In fairness those aren't McMansions, they are actual mansions.

Still not to my taste mind you.

Yes, the level of detail and overall shape is much more complex than a big box McMansion.

With better exterior cladding and a few design tweaks, the first one wouldn't be particularly ugly, just rather bloated.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the first one if that's your thing, it just isn't mine. I find houses like that, and their related wasteful estates, incredibly garish.
