Other than the WTC and Battery Park City, lower Manhattan's general form doesn't really look like it has changed since the 1930s. But this is a great comparison of the before and after of BPC. I don't think I've ever seen an aerial of how it looked before it was filled in.

The 1970s original WTC twin towers had a massive impact on the skyline; it’s not difficult to believe people hated them at first. I find the Freedom Tower much more balanced.

Wow, it’s striking how much the west side of West Street has grown - it was empty in the 1990s!

(I realized this because at first I thought the nice big 1920s building in front of Battery Park and near the waterfront had been demolished, but in fact it’s just not near the waterfront anymore!)

I'd have to agree, not even close. No sign WFC is under construction. I'd guess 1980 or so.
