In any case, I can't find the document where I read it. The photo doesn't really tell as much. The floor beams don't stretch from one side to another. I don't thing there are part of transferring the load of the new tower.

We Torontonians would say that angle looks like a Tridel build. (as an aside) Tridel once owned Beaverbrook in Edmonton.

From what I understand there will be 8 transfer beams spanning the floor east/west that rest on the vertical steel columns and 2 large transfer beams spanning north/south with a 10" slab poured as part of that - that forms the structure of the 20th floor.

I agre. The contrast in the cladding certainly makes for a more interesting view.
